Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 OK, so I went out to my LHS to get a sharpening yesterday. I have a pair of TPS bionics, that I was trying to trade here for a bigger pair, but no takers. So I was trying on some gloves, and I put on a pair of 15'' CCM Vector 4s. They were really comfortable, and felt almost instantly broken in. The palms were softer, and it was a slightly closer fit than my 14 TPS.They were $49 bucks. So I took them, went home and took a stick and ball to try them out, and they feel simply great. They have leather back and knitted fingers.Just wondering if the price seemed about right. I am not at a level where I will need top end gear, but these seem really nice. Also, I tried on a pair of XXX gloves, holy crap are they nice.I couldn't find much about the vector 4s anywhere, so thought I would ask here. ThanksAlso, does $79 sound ok for bauer 4000 pants, they have them in my size now, and I need new ones.Sorry about the silly questions, but this board has become like my own encyclopedia of info, and has really helped me when I got my skates too.Cheers
KYHockey3 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 i couldnt find the pants for cheaper then 60$, so with shipping, your price of 70$ is good.do they fit you good?are they senior? 70$ for juniors isnt a good price imoonline, the gloves i found were 44$so with shipping, those were a good price too.your shop seems to have near online prices, what shop is it? Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Its the proshop out at skatequest reston, in northern Va. They are pretty friendly. While one of the guys was sharpening my skates, I was asking the other about the gloves, and he showed me the XXX and XX, but I said I wasn't looking to spend that much cash,he straight away picked up the vapor 4s and said they were a good glove for the price.I tried them on and the felt really good on, so was all I really needed. The pants were a good fit on, I am 6'3'' and 230 (which can get up to 240) so was looking for a decent size. I had bauer 1000's but fell when I stood on a puck and broke the tailbone pad. I liked the way they fit, and the 4000s fit me perfectly.I thought it was a good deal. But didn't have the cash to get both at the time, so I am probably going to go back out next pay period and pick up the pants. They are senior. The only real difference I have noted between this shop and online is the skate prices, but they include free thermofit and some sharpenings etc with theirs. My only problem in this area is no one had been carrying my skate size and width in shop and wanted to charge me just to order. But all my gear I think I have been lucky with. And the staff there get this dumbass's seal of approval for helping me with what I actually needed rather than trying to get me to go to the top end gear

Allsmokenopancake 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 I think they do. I basically scour these boards for info, so I have a clue about whats going on, but I am pretty new to hockey, and my first batch of equipment was got from play it again sports, $25 pants, $14 for gloves, etc.But the guy I dealt with specifically yesterday was a good sort, in that he didn't rip me off, I don't think. I had seen gloves, the nike pro returns on eastwest, and was going to buy there, but the price with shipping etc was the same. It may have been a better glove, but I don't really need more than what I have at the minute, and I was able to try this one on, and liked it.I am going to have to stop getting my skates sharpened though, last time I went out, I got a TPS rubber shaft, this time its gloves.I am not that good, but seem to always want to buy more and more stuff.Maybe I should send my wife, that would stop me
