Jokinen scored in the Shootout against the Oilers the other night, and is now 9 for 9 in the regular season.

Oh, and he scored on a penalty shot in regulation as well....

+he was 3 for 3 in the postseason...

TSN.ca claims that there has been scored 30 goals on 89 attempts this season in the shootouts and Jokinen has made 9 of these 30 goals...

Anyway his offcial statistic is 9 for 9, do you think anybody will ever beat his streak?

I'm pretty good in shootouts, but I can't even score 9 for 9 on the goalies in my league and he's done it on NHL goalies... :blink:

Jokinen has been great this year. Wasn't even supposed to make the team, and here he is leading the NHL in shoot out goals. I got to watch him in practice shoot outs during training camp - he was amazing. He's got two great moves, and claims to have a third that he hasn't shown.

What's really crazy is that he keeps using the same move over and over and the goalies keep getting suckered.

Every single one of them thinks, "Nah, he won't try that, he knows I'll be expecting it," so then they don't expect it and get burned. :wacko:

What did he do last night against the Oilers? I saw the PS goal and I didn't think he would shoot there again in the SH so I have been wondering this all day.

Can't argue with his success, with Morrison getting a piece of it you have to wonder how long the streak lasts though.

Anyone who is almost single handedly keeping their team 9 points above the division rivals is worth something. You also have to credit Turco, who just got a big deal too...

He actually has a couple different moves, one to each side of the net.

There is no way that number is correct. There have been way way more than 89 attempts so far this season. That one game where Malik scored the between the legger there was about 30 attempts alone in that game! Even if each shootout only averaged two shooters a team that's 4 attemps/shootout which means there has only been 15 shootouts all season. It's more likely they meant there has been 89 shootous, roughly 3 a team...that seems low, but it's definitely possible.

That would be six a team since each shootout has 2 teams involved, at least last time I checked.

They flashed some numbers during the MTL-PHI game IIRC. I don't recall the exact numbers, but something like 11% of games had gone to overtime; I don't know how many had gone to shootouts. I'd go back and look but I just deleted it from the Tivo tonight. :(

Also, interestingly, they said that shooters scored on roughly 33% of attempts.

I hope now that he's streak is over he tries some of his other moves. Of course, he'll probably just use the same move again and go on another streak.
