Breaking in a new pair of 703s

Recommended Posts

Guys, anyone wear Graf 703s? I used to wear a pait of Vapor XXs, and I just bought a pair of 703s about a month ago, I have had 5 sessions in them, but my right skate is still bothering me. My inside right ankle is always sore during the skate as well as the couple of days after the skate. Nothing wrong with my left. The thing is, when I got them fitted at the pro shop when I bought them, they felt like the most comfortable skates I have ever put my feet in..... Any suggestions or advice???

Thanks JR, I baked it for the second time a couple of sessions ago, and had the proshop punch out the inside right ankle a bit. It felt much better at the shop after the adjustments were done, but same results after skating in them.... I have been contemplating going back to my trusty XXs. They are so comfortable now, but can't do it because I shelled out the dough for the 703s.....

Man I actually had the *exact* same problem with some 703's I bought a few months ago. Its weird tho cuz I used to skate in 703's all through midgets (6 yrs ago) and I wear the same size and never had that problem. I gave them 20+ skates, many punchings and 2 bakings before I had to can 'em.

I bought 703's under the same conditions, that they were the best fitting skates at the LHS. On the ice, ankle pain (on the inside) surfaced. First the left and then the right. After about 6 months of regular skating, two bakes, and the ankle area punched on both skates, I can now skate for hours pain free.

Actually the pain subsided after the second skate was punched about 2 months in. The pain in the right ankle took some time to develop.

What I meant was that now, after using them for six months, I'm still pain free.

I think you should take a small but jugged stone and tape it to your ankle right where it hurts the most. Skate like that for about a year and then take it out. You'll be so relieved, you won't notice the original source of pain at all!

Good Luck.

:)
