Wheels for wood floor?

Recommended Posts

Hey roller guys, this is the first time i've ever posted about roller stuff so be easy on me. I've been searching the forum for info on what wheels to use on wood floors.

I'm thinking that next fall, I might start up an intramurial roller hockey league. Intramurial sports are HUGE at my school, especially with undergrad students. I'm thinking we could also use it to raise funds/awareness for the hockey team.

All we really have for a good surface is a big gym that they use for bball, the sport that is basically worshipped here, despite the fact that our bball teams suck. Anyways, people would be EXTREMELY uptight about marking/damaging in any way the gym floor. It's your regular wood type basketball gym. People say that it's VERY hard for a gym floor, which I think is good.

I'm thinking that I would include a set of wheels in the registration costs for the intramurial league, and that we would require the participants to ONLY use those wheels on the gym floor. Remember that my #1 concern is not marking up the floor in any way. Can anyone help me?

go to walmart and get their cheapest wheel

Ok... Could you explain? Maybe this is just a bad assumption but..

IF Cheap Walmart Shoes mark the floor badly (and they do!)

THEN Cheap Walmart Wheels would mark the floor badly also.

Is this bad reasoning on my part?

I would also recommend using Labeda Grippers for wood floors.

I was also looking into starting a league on a wood basketball floor, but to my knowledge, regardless of the wheels you use, hard stops will mark the floor, and sticks (c/o hard shots) will also mark the floor.

Good luck to you.

Let us know how it goes.
