Boober

mission L7

Recommended Posts

i'm looking to buy new skates, there are some good deals on mission s500 and L7's. can anybody tell me what the big differences are between the two? i know the L7 is stiffer, but is it more stiff to make a big difference? also if i bake them will they feel a little bit wider. thanks

I think I know the differences, but check these threads out

Also read the catalogue for that year:

And read this year's catalogue, realizing that the new XP = old L series and the new AG = old S series.

There's a lotta discussion regarding the differences in those catalogue threads.

thanks, does anybody know if a stiffer/ traditional boot would be better for someone like myself that has EXTREMELY flat feet? or would more movement in the ankle area be the way to go, with the s500 to help balance? i've tried on both, but i can never tell what it's going to be like on the ice.

my dad picked up a pair of L7 skates, and he said that they are the most comfortable boot that he has put on. as for a still boot with a flat foot, i would try the vapor xxx

I'm really beginning to wonder about the L series Mission skates. They weren't out very long and their already on special at a lot of LHS. The new Mission Fuels just came out so I'm thinking that Mission is focusing on them now. Why come out with two new lines at the same time. Could the L series have a flaw? Why on sale so quickly after their introduction?

The Mission Fuel XP and AG lines replaced the S and L series skates. The L series went on sale because everyone is trying to make room for the new skates. I also believe that the L series did not sell as well as the S series.

I thing the AG and XP series are more just the new versions of the S and L series. Mission probably wanted a better naming convention to go with their skates.

No idea. You'd have to try them on and find out. From what I've heard, Graf has a model that folks with low arches seem to like. Not sure which one it is, though.

I have zero arch and prefer the S500s...The L7's are built on the same last, but are stiffer...This means it will take you more time to break in...The L7's are on closeout because of the new models...

The L series probably didn't sell as well as the S series because Mission has always marketed a modern looking skate and then they made the L series a "traditional" boot.

You'll notice that the main difference between the L series and the XP series (very non-traditional BTW) that replaces it is simply looks: the feature set etc etc are otherwise pretty similar. Makes me think that the L series was the first and last "traditional" skate that Mission made.

Me on the other hand, I don't care if my skates "look" old, so I might pick up a pair of L7s someday, seeing as I'm never going to buy CCM again, and since I've always used CCMs, I'm going to have to start experimenting with other brands.
