ShakeAndBake9 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 I recently cut a OPS down and by doing so altered the flex. My question is, if cutting the OPS alters the flex by making it stiffer, then would putting a butt-end in to make the stick longer make it more whippy? If I start off with a 100 flex and cut about 3 inches off it, it becomes a 120 flex, so would putting a 3 inch end plug in it now make it a 100 flex again? I assume that it would make the stick more flexable but not as much as never cutting it in the first place, anybody out there sure? Thanks.
redwater_12 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Your correct. The flex directly corrisponds to the length of the stick, so if it ended up being the same length with the plug as it was uncut, the flex should almost be exactly the same. If not, then because of the added stress in the top of the stick caused by the plug, but thats gotta be one long plug for that to happen.
Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Oggie Grips have built-in flex. They've been radar tested to increase shot speed.
Oggie Grip 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 Actually, if you simply add a standard wood end plug, you will make your stick even stiffer than original. Current wood endplug extensions offer no flex at all.

Actually, with the engineered low kickpoints on sticks, cutting off the top of the stick doesn't increase the stiffness as much as you think, unless you really chop it down. Three inches won't take a stick from a 100 to a 120.
ShakeAndBake9 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 I thought it sounded odd,but according to the bauer 2006 cat, it says it will bring it to 120. I put a wood end plug in it and the stick has more flex agian , but not as much as it did origionally.
stickfixchaska 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 I thought it sounded odd,but according to the bauer 2006 cat, it says it will bring it to 120. I put a wood end plug in it and the stick has more flex agian , but not as much as it did origionally. Adding the wooden end plug didn't give the stick any more flex. By adding the end plug, you are now able to get more leverage. While this gives you the ability to flex the shaft more, now there is an increased amount of stress on the shaft. Who knows how much that extra stress is, but an increased amount of stress on a composite shaft can't be a good thing.
ShakeAndBake9 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 You are right about the leverage which is causing the whippy feel. Take an Easton stick with a composite end plug, if I cut the endplug, then will it affect the actual flex rating of the stick? Is it true that only cutting the shaft will affect the actual flex rating? And adding or cutting just the end plug will only give more leverage? If this is true, then I wish Bauer made end plugs as Easton and other companies do, this way they wouldn't have to print that flex chart rating in their cat. cause4alarm 7 Report post Posted April 13, 2006 Excuse me if I'm hijacking, but what's a composite end plug? Is it any end plug for a composite stick or is it an end plug made out of composite material?
