All Torhs Team 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 well stickhandling would be helpfull of course. and Are you playing O or D ? You need to have a decent shot either way but if your O you really need to work on a quick release snap shot. foot speed is one of the most important thing. you must use that in every single shift of the game. off land training will help you, but how long is it till tryouts? Most likely the coaches will do somesort of offland trainging during tryouts. If youve got time to do training over the months, theres plenty of topics explaiing what types of stuff to do (pllleenntyy)And as bad as it may sound some coaches look for fighters. Sometimes a coach will try to get certain kids on the bubble to fight to see who has it to be on the team. If you get into one-dont loose.good luck to you for the tryouts. #96 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Ability to think quickly. How fast you are reacting to game situations and how well you adjust to them. One way they test this is to play a 3-on-3 where they bring the nets alot closer like from blue line to blue line. This enables coaches to see how you fit in in an extrememly quick game where you have to think immediately and react.Obviously your basic skills (skating, stickhandling, shot, etc.)Speed WITH the puck is always looked at closely.
