Leafs vs. Sens

Whats wrong with Antropov? Had this been two years ago, I would have given him up for nothing, but I think he had a great turn around.

Mats can make any one look good. Sundin is their only real first line forward.

The Leafs need a new Mogilny to be good. But even if they did get a winger who had the potential to score 40 goals, Quinn would either not pair him with Sundin, or make the other winger Kilger or Domi. There is no reason that Tucker should lead the team in goals.

Anyone hear anything new about Kubina coming to Toronto as a UFA?

Redden, Chara and Jovo are the biggest names but the Leafs would be stupid not to opt for a two and three over a true number one.

EDIT: Can someone explain the McCabe bashing? From what I see he is a solid defenceman who had a great first half and is only -1 below Karbele. Wasn't he supposed to crash and burn in the new NHL as well?

They apperantly want him because he'll be cheaper than McCabe, and should provide similar offense beside Kabs. Kabs and Kubina were a pair at the olympics and have good chemistry. Alot of fans are saying they want him as McCabe's replacement, but haven't heard anything from JFJ, although it would be tampering.

For the McCabe Bashing. Kaberle was a -7 during McCabe's injury. I personally feel it was more a reflection of rolling 5 D (injuries) on a tough western road trip, where coaches keyed in on him, and only him. Lemaire said this in one of his press confrences. So McCabe is a -8 below Kaberle in the games they've both played, kind've tough to believe considering they are on the same pairing. When McCabe was "hot" Kaberle was +4 above him, now that they've been paired up again, he increased it to +8. Ontop, alot of fans are pissed about his "Philly meltdowns" although I say thats a Quinn error in not being able to recognize his players flaws and protect them.

You mean like Jeff O'Neill who managed 20 goals getting 4th line minutes this season?

Antropov actually very responsible defensively, he could be a good checking line center, but needs to have alot of speed around him. Williams is really looking good on the Marlies, they also just signed Earl. Suglobov is a great natural talent, whether he'll click in remains to be seen, his time is running out. They need to plug the goaltending hole for a two-three years before Pogge/Rask step in.

Take the roster they had this season and use them properly and they had the potential to be much better.

Does that include a healthy Lindros, Allision, Coliaccavo, Kronwall, Pilar, Khavanov, and Belfour? Or are you talking about the roster that actually wins games?

Either way. The players they had were horribly mis-used almost all season.

heres a question for you....it doesnt look like the leafs will be making playoffs this year, but do they deserve to?

given how well theyve been playing these last few games I would say yes, but then some would argue they should have been playing this well a lot earlier on

With all these Marlies guys coming up and doing really well, I say we just replace the whole Leafs team with the Marlies next year, with the exception of Sundin and Tellqvist(who is the back up). :D Speaking of the Marlies they will have their team back for the playoffs.

It's a little frustrating, they had 1 stretch which really knocked them out the playoffs. On it they used 5 D-men primarily and were missing Tucker, Lindros, while Sundin was still getting back from the eye injury. I think they've played well enough to be close to the teams they are, but had some little problems that put them below. The shoot-out record, multiple goals scored on them in under a minute, and goals late in the game to lose killed them in the end.

Leafs deserve their fate because the couple points they will miss by could have easily been earned by beating Washington after the Olympic break and getting a split in Montreal, it's not like they needed to beat every team they should have before Christmas.

He belongs on the third line but somehow is on Mats's line, sure he and Poni are 2nd and 3rd in ESP but whoever was with Sundin the most would be. You know the wingers are bad when the center has to play with two guys from the third line on the PP.
