Trying to find good XXL pants

Recommended Posts

As some posters know, I'm built like a tank (6'3", 290 lbs, 50 inch chest) so finding good gear that fits can be a bit of a problem for me.

I'm currently in search of a pair of fairly protective pants that aren't too heavy in size XXL.

While I play rec league hockey I tend to block a lot of shots and I often park in front of the goaltender for screens & deflections.

Not all of my teammates are the greatest of shots so I have a tendency to take a slapshot off the ass or thigh every game or so.

(Before anyone spouts off on me needing to shed some lbs: PFO as I need to find pants that work for me now, not down the road).

Thanks in advance.

You can get Tackla 9000s in up to a 50" waist in the US, I would assume the Canadian distributor would have similar sizes.

How do they compare weight-wise with the Bauer 5000 pant?

No idea, nobody ever carried them around here. They aren't the lightest but they aren't really heavy either. They are protective as hell though. The only time I've ever really noticed getting hit by a stick or a puck, I blocked a slapper with my cup. Obviously that had nothing to do with the pant protection.

Obviously you're going to have a problem tyring to balance between weight and protection when you need such a big size. Right now I wear Koho 4420 hockey pants that fit up to a 40" (XXL according to Koho) waist, but I feel like I'm protected by cardboard. However, they are quite light.

You seem built similar to me (I am also 6'3"/6'4", 290, 50 inch chest). I've got a 38/40-inch waist and wear an XL in Nike/Bauer 5000s from eastwesthockey.com.

Here is the pant I have: http://eastwesthockey.net/baprorepahus.html

Those pants started out slightly snug, but they loosened up for me a little. I don't like my pants too loose. Not sure if you want them very loose, but Christian makes a big/lightweight pant. Very free and mobile pant as well.

Their XXL was huge for me: http://www.harrowsports.com/products.asp?s...ge=pw&c=52&t=39

Edit: From my experiences, the CCMs are probably too bulky for us big guys and our oversized legs, thought I'd add that.
