Bauer 8000/8500 vs RBK 8k

Recommended Posts

Hi, considering upgrading helmets and need to be thinking a little more about protection as of late. Would either the Bauer 8000/8500 or RBK 8k helmets stand out above the other with regard to protection?

Just looking for a recommendation. I will be attaching a cage - either full or itech combo.

Any suggestions..Thanks

i've had the RBK since it came out and I love it, ultra light. Been smacked in the head a few times with no problems.

On the other note. if you compare them side by side, the 8000/8500 does seem a little beefier, like it would have better protection, IMO.

I just tried on the 8K at the Reading Royals equipment sale over the weekend and wasn't impressed. It was nowhere near as comfortable as my old school CCM 652, and didn't feel protective at all (thin and hard). Maybe the new type of padding works better in tests, but if I'm smashing my head through the glass I'd rather be wearing my CCM.

I have the Reebok 8K and quite honestly I think the 8000/8500 is a more protective helmet. The 8K is definitely lighter which is the reason I purchased it but I would not be hesitant to get an 8000/8500 if it came right down to it. It's not a bad looking helmet and very comfortable. I've never been a fan of Bauer equipment but their helmets are definitely good quality.

;)
