Does anybody know the difference between FLAC files and MP3 files? I want to buy some music but not sure which option to choose. Would I be able to burn either format onto a cd?

Yep don't risk buying a file formay you can't play

A little more info

EDIT: "FLAC, an acronym for Free Lossless Audio Codec, is a popular format for audio compression. Unlike lossy codecs such as Vorbis, MP3 and AAC, it does not remove any information from the audio stream and is suitable both for everyday playback and audio archival. The FLAC format is currently well supported by many software projects and hardware support is growing."

flac is pretty much uncompressed and does not lose any quality. To be able to use it youll have to convert it. So unless your using it for professional use or plan on listening to it on very expensive speakers, just download the mp3 version

I downloaded a FLAC torrent. So your saying I have to covert it to MP3 or AAC or whatever for it to work?

no, some mp3 players support it, but to burn it to a cd, you must convert (as a music file) and most digital music players dont support flac (including the ipod)
