Leg pad boot strap

Recommended Posts

I got a pair of V2's, and I noticed alot of NHLers including Cam Ward seem to keep the single boot strap at the bottom that is attached to the skate very loose. Anyone keep it very loose or very tight? Anyone know of any benefits or drawbacks of this? Just wanna get everyones opinion on tight or loose boot straps

Personal preference sorta deal. Do whatever works better for you. But loose or tight kinda depends on you and what pads too, just make sure it's snug enough you don't have your skate flopping around when you go down..you wanna still be connected so you got control of your pad. But not too tight so you can't move. Find what works and stick with it.

tight. It's what keeps your pads on your skate, you can't really feel where the pad is if that strap(s) are loose.

Toe ties loose, 2 inch slack, and boot strap loose. B-fly shuffles and b-fly recoveries are easier because the blade can make contact with the ice faster.

Yeah I've been wearing em semi-loose. I strapped one on a 6 and the other on a 2, the 6 was obviously very tight and the 2 was obviously very loose. The looser one felt much better on my body and I could stretch farther, but it seemed to loose and the pad was rotating a BIT to much, one time a puck slide under my pad because it rotated to much. Since I havent changed my tie toe looseness ( 2 inchs) it had to be cause the strap was just a bit to loose. So I'm thinkin setting it at a 3 or 4 now. Cause 2 and 6 are to much of the extremes

Oh yeah I leave 2 inchs at the tie toes. I will never go back to having them tight and snug to the skate, theres no freedom of movement and it leads to injuries. I'm leavin the boot strap at about a 3 or 4, just enough movement for my game. It really does make a difference during a skate I had one done up at 6 and the other done at 2 and the looser one was much more comfortable and I made better contact with the ice.
