New Cage: NBH FM 8500

Recommended Posts

I'm finally switching over to a cage after taking too many shots to the face and i realize that it's just not worth it anymore. So goodbye half for now, and I've decided to bring out of retirement my old RBE III cage. I'm thinking of going with the FM 8500 cause i like the dryfit chincup and apparently it has better visibility and weighs less. Has anyone tried this and is it worth it? For those of you in Toronto, anyone got a large or know where I can get one? I just tried the National at Yonge and Sheppherd and all they have is medium.

Just got my RBK 8k and Bauer 8500 Oval cage, seems pretty nice, I'll check out how I like it tonight, the cage is a little big, but I don't wear it tight anyways so it doesnt really matter to me. With the oval wires it really does seem that I can see easily and i have a better allignment with this cage that with other bauers to see out of instead of having bars in front of my eyes. I find the color to be nice for use too, althought not tested on ice yet, I do very much like it. It fits better on my 5000 better though. The 8K in Large also seemed to fit my head better in the store that the one I ended up with. So I may have to move to a medium helmet and cage for the RBK though.

Try to find a Jofa/CCM 480 cage. Streamlined, great field of vision and fits almost anything on the market. I highly recommend it.

That 8500 cage sure looks alot like the Jofa/CCM one(480). Coincidence?!?!?

I have the 8000 cage (same thing, just re-branded)

Used it for the first time on the ice on Monday and I have nothing but accolades for it.

Good vision, LOVE the chincup, fits my Bauer 5000 perfectly.

Actually the alignment of the wires on the 8500 is quite different, not to mention the oval wire instead of round...

Yes, on the 8000, the middle wires are closer together, on the 8500, it's more spread out.
