V3i

Hey guys, I got tossed in to the pool with my RAZR. Effectivly destroying it, so I picked up a RAZR V3i with iTunes. Do any of you guys have it? I love it except for the limit on songs. I'm still toying around with it though. So if any of you guys have one and have any cool ideas I'm up for anything.

Check out Moto Modders for some cool mods/hacks for your phone. You can upgrade the default memory card to 1GB which should give you plenty of room for music (obviously not as much as most DAPs but a fair amount for a phone).

You can get the 1GB cards for ~$35-40 on eBay

I'm thinking of trading in my Razr for the V3i but I'm not sold on the headphones. I wish there was a USB to 1/8 adaptor as I hate the earbud style...

My SLVR came with an adapter as well as the ear buds. Im sure you could find one at any store that carries these phones

Just compress the song files with Cool Edit Pro.

there are many programs that will compress audio, the problem is that when you go below 128 kbps it sounds like crap. When you compress a file bits of data are extracted from the file that are (presumibly) useless, or not very important. With audio a lot of the quality and many of the instruments can be extracted along with those precious bits. I like my files at around 192, thats the medium between size and quality for me, but 128 isnt so bad.

You could probably buy an unbranded unlocked V3i if you really want it.

I dont get the point in having an mp3 player on a cell phone. Everyone already has an ipod to listen to music on.

Actually, I don't own an ipod, nor do I want one. And let's not get into the working conditions of the ipd factories. I do have to have a cell phone with me at all times and having one with MP3 capabilities is convenient. It's also one less device requiring various accessories to buy and lose.

Actually the Apple response was more like this; "uhh, yeah, we'll umm, have someone look into that or something."

and dell pays their indian tech support gurus like 6 cents a day sooo

The ones I've talked to are overpaid at 6 cents a day. Better to pay people who can contribute to our own economy and are speak English as a primary language.

you have talked to the indian support agents in person?

Not recently, I'm out of that stuff now. I got tired of teaching brand new MCSE's how to do their job and having my contract yanked when the in-house people fuck up because they're retarded.

I was dealing with them when they started the outsourcing. Calling up to get the power supply replaced was always fun:

Them "I need you to be rebooting the computer please"

Me "I can't, it won't turn on"

Them "Sir if you will not follow my directions I can not be helping you"

...much later....

Me "It's plugged in and I push the button and it will not turn on, the power supply has the odor of an electrical fire"

Them "Aha we have found the problem. A technician will be there tomorrow to be replacing the power switch."

Me "I put the power supply from another computer into this machine and it started, the problem is not the switch."

Them "So the computer is working now? Thank you for calling Dell." (click)
