Sabres Logo?

That thing looks like it should be an arena football team jersey. Ugliest jersey I've ever seen. I can't under stand why they wont go back to the jerseys they wore in the early 90's.

I can understand a "modernized" jersey so they sell more merchandise but the blue and gold color is the important thing for me. No other team is wearing those colors and they could be unique instead of followers again.

I don't think that jersey is the one that is going to be used...just a hunch.

agreed, I hope they don't use the "horned hamster" too.

what gets me, looking again at the pictures on the first page, why would whatever design company that made those, why would they write confidential in a shadowed computer font across the picture? and why would they put a date on it?

I can answer one part...agencies date absolutely everything. The same piece of work may have 15 revisions to it...everything is numbered and dated for clarity. (and sanity)

The second is a guess...the easiest way to remind people that something is confidential is to label it confidential.

When I worked on the Canucks we had the new logo/jersey design for about a year (felt like a century) before we released it.

it was on the front page of the buffalo news today, that the legless buffalo slug looking thing is going to be the new logo.

so I just bought a Gilbert Perreault jersey off ebay instead.

My question is, why are there both colour sets?

I'm not sure if this has been answered yet, but the reason there are "two" color sets is the NHL distributes logos in both full color and black and white. The black and white logos are for printed media (i.e. NHL media guides, newspapers, etc.).

Yeah, JR's right - killed the greatest jersey in the history of hockey - V for Victory - although we called it the "oh Henry" jersey. Its demise stands as a great contribution to hockey....actually had the new jerseys "in the can" for much longer than a year....management was waiting for them to win a game so we could release the new look and ride the momentum of excitement. Finally gave up and released them. Good thing, my personal theory was the Canucks were playing so badly back then because they were embarrassed/humiliated by the darn jerseys..lol

The Orca logo...they would have had many different designs. I have my speculations on why this design was chosen. Selecting a jersey is one of the really critical things for a team and you would not believe the amount of time and thinking that goes into every aspect of it.

Although judging from this horny hamster, sometimes not enough.

Im just hoping this is all just a joke from Buffalo to bring attention to the team and they will unveil the 'real' new logo in September. Id have to assume that the entire franchise is not dumb enough to actually use that thing as their logo.

nope, actually the slug looking thing is the logo. they admitted it in a press conference. Said it will be a bit different then that but, it is what it is.

Happily though for buffalo fans, they will be using the old school dark blue jersey as a third jersey and will wear it at 15 home games.
