3 Finger Gloves

Recommended Posts

A few years ago Mission had a pair gloves that they sold with a shooters hand. The bottom hand glove (Left for a Left handed shooter) had 3 fingers on it. The "top" hand was a normal 4 finger glove. Also the cuff on the low hand was a bit larger to protect against slashed while the top hand had a shorter cuff for wrist movement.

I always wondered if that actually helped shooting/stickhandling. Since you guys are all about trying as many different kinds of gear as possible I thought someone might have used them....I'm not sure if any other companies did it too...I only know of the Missions.

Were they any good?

Cheers!

It's not really all that different... but it is comfortable as all get out. They're GREAT gloves. The 3 finger thing freaks alot of guys out (until they've actually used them). Those gloves were gems.

I loved it on my bottom hand, but hated it on my top...It was too different for the traditional hockey market....That's one reason it didn't last.

The warp zeros had some technology on them that I am surprised arent havent become industry standard on current issue gloves. I thought the idea of turning the cuffs on the lower hand, and adding more padding to the face of the lower hand and wrist was an obviously good idea, since the top hand takes more hits to the back and the bottom hand takes more hits to the face, yet I have not seen other gloves with it. Mine are still in great shape after 2 seasons and I'd still be wearing mine if I hadnt been shown the light of nylon gloves and air-knit gussets.

I think the reason we don't see more gloves with that technology (specific protection points for each hand) is because it's probably very expensive to make.

The warp sub zero's were nylon.. and lighter than the zeros.

Yeah about a year or so ago there were a lot of sub zeros on ebay. At the time I dismissed nylon as being cheap. Another good thing about warp zeros is the coolmax liner. Im not sure if the subs have it too. I found the gloves to be pretty loose fitting. the size large is i think a 15. i normally fit a 14-14.5 and my fingers were swimming a bit in large warp zeros.

I have a pair of Warp 0 pro model made for Jon Klemm when he was with Chicago. They do fit a bit lagre but they are BULLET PROOF. THe three finger stuff was a little freaky in the beginning but you just got used to it after a while I don't think it really helped with shooting etc.. I also liked the extra padding on the bottom wrist and the more open cuff on the upper hand. And a very durable glove (mine are leather)

i had the 3-finger on my Wicked-Lights. I really didnt like how my fingers were rubbing together all that much. Although i could stickhandle like crazy in those things, i didnt like 'em all that much.

I might sell if anyone wants them...

Yes the sub zero's had the coolmax liner as well. I wish more gloves today had that liner, it was the best.

I'm still on the same pair of Warp Zeros I bought a few years ago, original palm and all. Easily the most comfortable glove I've worn, plus the fingers open really easily. The bottom hand protection seems like a good idea. I just found the gloves a bit on the heavy side, but not a big deal.

I don't know about the Coolmax though. My hands don't feel much dryer with them. I find they just make my gloves stink worse than another pair of gloves without. Has anyone else noticed the same thing compared to other gloves? I know they all universally smell bad, but I'm speaking relatively.

BTW, what's the palm material used on the Warp Zeros, nash?

Okay, I've found what I assume is a real deal, but I'm a little comfused...If I go here:

http://www.detroithockey.com/34571.html

I can get the gloves for $29.95 and $29 S&H, but if I got here:

http://store.onlineskatehouse.com/34571.html

I get the same price, but $15 S&H.

Also, If I am in Canada, how can they charge taxes and how do thet know what rate to charge if they do. The "34571.html" is the same on both. Do these online stores have various URL's that all work back to the same warehouse and supply line? For give me if I am coming across as totally naive, but I haven't done a whole lot of Online shopping (a grand total of 3 purchases...2 from eBay), and I'm a little leary of giving a CC # when things look odd.

Thanks for all your input on the Mission Warp Gloves btw, I really enjoy reading the posts on this site...we could get one hell of a pick up game going if we all lived close enough.

Again and info would be appreciated. Cheers

They were most likely too radical and very inline specific. As well when the whole warp line of gloves dissapeared all companies were bringing out very "traditional" looking gloves. Most if not all companies have followed suit making their gloves look like throw backs from the mid 80's. Mission was simply keeping up with the Joneses.

Interestingly though my 2003 Easton Ultra Lite's have very different shapes to each other on the back roll and cuff which make it look as if its been made for each different hand. Perhaps the technology is now standard in the industry?

None (companys) that I know of have asymetrical gloves today or ever since the missions for that matter...

Radio, if you're left handed I'd go ahead and buy a pair. You won't find a better deal than that!

Does any have any experience with either of those 2 online's. Or can you recommend another site...it appears that deal is available from a few online stores.

I personally dont have any qualms about buying things online with a credit card. I was given assurance by VISA that my purchases are protected from internet fraud. If it doesnt come in a reasonable time VISA will charge back the money. Also, if it isnt what you ordered, dont accept the package and you will also be charged back the money because you did not receive the goods you paid for. I'm not the authority on this but thats the way I go about it.

Both Detriot hockey and the Online Skate House are run by the same people - http://www.summitsportsinc.com/ - I think they have a number of shops in and around Detriot. We've bought stuff from them wholesale and haven't had a problem with them, so it shouldn't be a problem ordering from them. As for the shipping, you could e-mail them and ask.

My two cents- I got a pair os the sub zeros a few years back and they are absolutely my favorite gloves ever. I've had Easton and Bauer gloves also, but I still use my Sub zeros now. I've had them for nearly three years I think, not a hole in the palm to speak of. The cuff has worn a bit, all of 1/2 an inch on the corner. That's after playing at least 2 days a week on average over the course of that time. Go for 'em!

Just ordered them from Online Skate House. S&H, taxes and everything in...$48.84 (USD). About $65 CDA. Not bad for gloves listed at $130 (US)I should have them next time I play (Wed evening) I'll you know what I think.

Thanks again for your input.

Cheers!
