I stand corrected. After re-reading Keiths web page maybe a better description would be something like "a super tough plastic". Or they could just read it for themselves.

It's an alloy of two different resins with different characteristics. One is a Japanese version of a nylon resin with 30% glass fiber. The other is a different type that bonds well and has no fiber content. Combined, the alloy has some of the attributes of each plus some helpful new ones. The replacement of fiber content with the second resin cuts down on the brittleness, also. Good stuff!

I used to wonder if I'd ever get them strong enough, but now I wonder if I'll find another material as durable and forgiving. As many of you know, absolutely rigid is no good with hockey. Equipment flexes and returns to shape or it breaks.

Okay, we've all been out somewhere, seen a really hot chick on the arm of the ugliest guy in town, and wondered "Why?"

Here's another case of the sweet and the ugly being united - my new Sprungs on my battle worn Mission RL's (yes, that's Shoe Goo to provide extra wear):

Mounting was no prob, but just wearing them in my garage, they feel a little inside of center. That could be just the new feeling. I'll skate tomorrow and know for sure. Should be a good start to the New Year.

Keith,

I hope I'm not opening a can of worms here, but are you still offering the 15% discount to people who purchased the old model frame on their new frame purchases?

Worms are us. Yep, we still do the 15% thing for your second set. :)

Anyone familiar with this Easton Z-Air boot '99 model. I was thinking of grabbing a pair and mounting a set of A8 Sprungs on them.

They are pretty heavy and bulky, aren't they? I used some for early prototype testing and they were not popular.

I love those boots!

A little heavy, yes. A little bulky, yes. But reasonable stiff, and I find them to be incredibly comfortable.

But, in comparison-by hand, I can't really tell a weight difference between the sprung/airs and my pair of mission 1500s.

hey spree how did yours turn out

They are at the shop right now. Unfortunately....the shop is also a ski/snow board rental and service shop, so they are busy as hell right now. The guy that does my skates for me is the former equipment manager for the former Asheville Smoke (ECHL). So he has the tools to do the job, but I told him no rush as I am in the middle of ice season right now. Shouldn't be anymore than a week is what he told me. I'll throw pics up on here as soon as they are mounted.

I also have these 6K's sitting around my garage I could mount the A8's on. Keith do you have any of the all black A8 in stock?

I have a pair of the Easton "99" Z-Airs I got from Hockey World for $49.00. I tried my Sprungs on them for a month or so but then I switched my Sprungs back to my 652 Tacks. I really like the Z-Air boot and it fits my foot well but it was just so stiff and hard to break in. I decided to go back to the CCM boot for my winter pick-up league and give the Z-Air another try next summer when I have more time to break them in. The boot is bulky but I really think if I get them broken in they will be nice. I like the quality.

Keith- I sent you a message on your site but you might be busy.

I have some 8.5 Bauer 8090's (ice) lying around what size would you recommend for them? Any particular problems when using sprungs on these boots?

Could you package the black chassis with some T-bolts for me? I want to get skating!

Thanks,

Steve

i did, & i kinda hate the boot actually. a bigger person may not mind, but i'm 140lbs, they feel like i'm skating on bricks, & kinda ruins the sprung experience.

I just mounted my first pair of Sprungs and I should be able to try them out on Tues. I cant wait I have read every this whole thread and have been wanting to try them out. But, I spent most of the year out with a broken femur.

Well hopefully this works I have never uploaded pics before.

Thanks, I'm glad they look good to you Keith. I hope that I mounted them right. They look centered and a good amount of wheel toe and heel.

They are a medium A6 on a size 8 boot. I'm not sure but I might have to look for a new boot soon, I just noticed that ive worn a small hole in the toe.

I'm getting ready to give the new frame a run, so I thought I might re-hash my concerns about the old frames so once I get the new ones I can compare.

Old frame:

Pros- manuverability, part replaceability, standard wheel size across all four

Cons- spring stiffness, pivot pin size, stability for my size

The general review of the old frame was I like the concept, but the frame would nosedive on me and felt like it was just too soft for me to realize utilize the suspension. It felt solid, but as someone else has said already, felt like an old flat frame that was rockered at both ends. I was also concerned about the diameter of the pivot pins, though Keith said he hadn't had any problems yet.

With the new frame, Keith made some changes to the design stated on his site. The frame and rocker arms have been widened, making for a larger "spring" as well to strengthen the frame and stiffen the ride. The pivot pin was also beefed up. These changes seem to address my initial concerns about the old model.

I'm just waiting on everything to arrive now and get it all put together. My last setup was a well worn pair of Amp 2 ice boots, old model frame, some sort of abec 5 and Cyko blem 74a wheels. The boot was flexy, the frame nose-dived and the wheels were soft. All of this was bad news for me since I'm a little bit stout at 205lbs. I handed them over to a good friend who had been playing ice, and at his skinny 145lbs he loved them.

The new setup is going for all new parts- albeit some old stock. I found brand new Tour TR8000 (a little bit of old school) boots to throw the new ones on, Bones Red bearings and Hyper Formula G 78a wheels. The boots should be stiffer, and harder wheels combined with the Sprung changes should provide a good platform. I'll throw pics up once they're together and ready.
