New Skates: Bauer Vapor 10 or Graf 709

As much as I love my old Daoust 501's, they've seen better days. I pretty much have to get something new soon.

I love hockey equipment, have from the time I was a little guy. I'm now seven years into my old-timer's career, so you do the math. Although there are a bunch of choices out there, I have limited it to these two because of their quality and the discount at which I may get them. I need to get quality because I'm a Clydesdale; junk just doesn't last. Money is also a concern since we recently bought a new house, I've got two kids and my wife's car is making discouraging noises.

I've long been a Bauer guy. They fit my foot well. I've never had Grafs but have heard nothing but good from those I know who use them.

I'm just looking for some thoughts. If you were limited to these two choices, which one would you get and why?

The Vapor 10 would probably be the way to go.

The 709 is deep, wide, and has a really flat arch. The fit on these skates are too different.

After what you said, i'd definitely say Bauer's. People who's feet fit great into Graf's say Graf's are great.. I went from Bauer's to Graf's and am now switching back to Bauers due to feet limitations.

yeah if the 709's fit, i'd go for those. they seem to be a better skate. but if they don't fit, you'll be uncomfortable and it won't be worth it. a better skate won't do much if you can't wear it right.

i like the Bauer Vapor 10 better than the over skates but i wear ccm skates they fit me the best !

The 709 is definately not a better skate overall than the Original Vapor 10, IMO.

Bauer....... all day long over the graf... it is familiar to you and when cash is tight there is no room to experiment with something that is not proven to you. the Vapor 10 was a good skate,

The Vapor 10 was a great skate. I also agree what the other have said, fit being most important but fit aside, I'd go with the 10's.

Thanks for all your input. My gut is telling me to go with the Bauers as well.
