as many of you know i have a baby on the way, and i wanted to get a tattoo to honor the baby. i have 3 ideas and i was wondering if any artists on the board would like to help me out and draw a sketch if they had some free time. my first idea was to get the "tribal" design around my arm but incorporate the babys name in the "tribal" pattern. my second idea is the babys name over my heart wrapped in barbed wire. and my third idea is the babys name around my arm with barbed wire surrounding it and intertwining (sp?) the names we chose are Landon Jeremy, and Sophia Riley. so if anyone has free time and wants to do a sketch please do so. and what do you guys tihnk of the ideas?

I know you are excited to become a new Dad, I'm not against Tattoo's, infact a few members have helped me with designs, but think long and hard about the design and how it will look on your body. One of the members suggested printing up the picture and hanging it up somewhere you look alot to make sure you aren't sick of it in a few months time. I'd suggest you do something along these lines and stray away from putting a "fad" tattoo like barbed wire or tribal designs around it.

ive been thinking about them, im not getting them as a fad. im getting them as something to show everyone that i love my child and i want every one to know. i like the tribal idea becasue it would discrete but still there. and i like the barbed wire because it would symbolize the security that i am going to provide for my child.

Save the extra money and spend it on you're kid.

Obviously at you're age, its going to be hard to provide for all of he/she's needs, and money becomes the biggest factor during pregnancy. Minimum wage as a teenage father isnt going to get you far.

It's you're choice, though. Tattoos are cool and all, and your potential tattoo, does have a meaning to it unlike 90% of the ones out there. However, there are much better ways to show you love someone or something than to get a tattoo of it.

^Bingo. There's nothing you can do more for your soon-to-be kid in terms of honour than getting ready for its birth. Later on, if/when you become more secure/stable look at a tattoo but right now just squirrel away any and all money that you have.

I dislike it when people say stuff like "are you going to like the tattoo 10 years from now?" or "it wont look goodwhen ur old" To me, thats the way people who dont have a tat talk. I have a huge angel on my back. is it going to be cool when iam 60? Maybe, maybe not. Iam not going to hate it and wish it wasnt there. I got it cause i thot it looked cool. Once you get a tattoo, you dont get bored of it. Its like your name, areyou bored of your name? I plan on getting more tattoos. Maybe they will mean something, maybe they will just look cool. I say go for it. Not now, however, as what they say about having a minimum wagw job and spending ur money on your child would be better for now. Also, the barbed wire and tribal designs... i'd never get one. I'd rather be a BIT more original. But if thats what u want, get it.

Bro, I'd say like most everyone else, the best thing you can do for your kid right now is save your cash and make sure you can help put diapers on its backside and food in its mouth. Sure, tattoos are sweet, I have 2 (or 5 if you count each seperate piece as an individual tattoo) and I'm getting more on wednesday, but you've got big responsibilities coming up, save your money, even if that tattoo would only be $100-$150, that can buy alot of baby stuff..

And if you go with the tattoo, I'd stay away from barbed wire and tribal too, although your idea does sound like it has meaning to you..

and of course we're gonna talk like that. Are you saying all non-tattoo people are in envy of those who have one? Most people say "it'll be stupid in 10 years," because that's the reason they didn't get one.

I'm sure you know, but I'm meaning things that are symbolic to you, like one of mine has an american flag in it because my deceased father served in the US Army and other members on here, I forget who maybe TiGirl has the one for her deceased friend with the car and stuff, those will never be regretted or uncool.

"oh man, i cant belive how sweet this xbox game is! iam gonna get the symbol on my chest!" Those are tattoos you wont think are cool 60 days after, nevermind 60 years. I had my angel tattoo as my wallpapper for a couple months and didnt get bored of it. Still thot it was cool, so i got it put on my body. i dont care what the trend is now. i like it and i dont care if its not "in" in ten years. its a child, like you have mentioned a child is forever and i want something to symboilize it. like i explained the barbed wire isnt becuase its cool, its becuase it symbolizes protection i am going to provide for my child.

You keep overlooking the fact nobody is talking about your childs name. We're talking about the surroundings of it, which you may tire of. You wouldn't want to tarnish a meaningful tattoo with crap around it. You've explained why you liked the barbed wire, but isn't there a better idea to symbolize protection?

The only one I'd been thinking about since having mine was a little set of angel wings on my other wrist but that sounds pretty fey to me. I'd just put her initials in there and leave room for the other umpteen kids I may have floating around.

a tat on your wrist? Iam curiouse about what u do for a living. I wouldnt think most people would hire someone with a tattoo on the wrist.
