gp3r 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2006 Windows XP Media Center isn't worth much. It's pretty much windows' testing ground for the upcoming Windows Vista, which will pretty much do everything both XP Pro and MCE are doing right now.I have XP Pro on my new laptop that I just got last week, and I couldn't be happpier with it. Iif you really know how to use it, than it's gonna be a GREAT tool.Microsoft is using MCE to test their new softwares that are gonna be on Windows Vista, and they keep finding problems week after week, so that's probably one of the main reasons why they keep pushing back it's release date.If you want to solve the problem(s) you have(gonna have) I recommend you do your Windows update frequently, don't wait for Microsoft to send them to you, go directly to windowsupdate.com. You'll find patches that should solve you problems. But honestly, if you still have problems after that, switch to XP Pro. Just ask one of your friends for his XP Pro and install it on your computer, and you won't be mad at your new computer anymore.

And Vista only uses 3x the resources to give you everything you already have and more that you don't really want. Pro (win2k or XP) is the only version I ever use on my non-server machines.
