clean or dirty?

hay if i wanted to hit someone and they decided to put their head down to my shoulder level then they are going down. B) that is a clean hit all the way... and it was not like torres decided to make a charge at him because he had his head down. he was already going for it even when the sharks player still had the puck. if you put your head down like that your head is fair game. i mean should i put my head down or stick my head out everytime i didn't want to be hit and should anyone who does hit me when i feel that way be called dirty? <_<

Exactly. If I'm locked-in on a guy (the way Torres and Stevens both were) and he decides to put his head down, I'm going to tee-off on him. My arms will stay down, and I'll get him square. I won't be looking to hurt him (if I hit him clean and he does get hurt, my night isn't going to be ruined), but I will be looking to hit him as hard as humanly possible, and here's why:

1) I'm a little guy and a goal-scorer, so when I get the chance to light a guy up, I like to take advantage of it.

2) Hockey is a game of emotion. As I am sure you all know, a big hit can change the feel, flow and momentum of a game. Pwrfwd26 said it was the turning-point of the season, which is why a play like that has to be made (from the Oilers' stand-point). Obviously, nobody wants to be the guy to go out there and knock another player out of the game (or longer), but it's part of the game. They were both good, clean, hard open-ice hits.

On the Torres hit, I say dirty. It's not because of the timing, rather because he was head-hunting. I have no respect for guys who do that and Stevens was one of the all-time best at getting away with cheap shots like that. It's called a "body" check for a reason.

Anytime you go after someone's head it is a dirty play. Just because a guy has his head down doesen't mean you get a free shot at his head. Torres is a disgrace. I agree with what you said about stevens. I never thought he was this great warrior like a lot of people said, I thought he was a dirty bastard who should have been look at as a cheap shot artist.

After my hit this week, which was like 1/3 as hard as this one and now i can feel his pain... No matter if its clean or dirty, msut hurt as hell.
