Grafs w/ t'blades

Recommended Posts

My strides seem to be alot cleaner while I skate backwards with t'blades probably because of the bend in my knees.

Wow, JR, you've only had one successful t'blade switchout. I have had the complete opposite response from my customers. True, there are a few who don't like them, but many of them are because of peer pressure. It pisses me off when people complain about them without ever using them, and with the main complaint being that they are too loud. If you get them, you have to allow yourself to get used to them. From what I've seen, the only reason to switch is if you can't get used to the pitch. I have never had any trouble with them, except for the fact that I've had runners that last for months and some that last for two weeks.

JR--- I was told by the sharpening guru here that the points of the hollow often curl out because the steel is so thin, and if you took a flat piece of steel (not stone)and ran it along side the blade it would "push" the rounded out edge back up into place and give your edge a little more life. This contradicts you picture which shows the edge worn down. Am I mistaken???

they do sometimes curl out because of nicks, turns, etc... but the moral of the story is that the hollow should be round, and the two sides of the blade should be parallel, not angling inward, as the sweet stick does

I think I've done about 10. Only one has stuck with it...and it's because he's in NYC.

Just for the record, if we had competent sharpeners around here, I would probably go with conventional holders every time.
