Canucks

Only in Vancouver. Fans all over a goalie after two half games with a depleted defence against arguably the best two teams in the Western Conference

Don't lump all Vancouver fans in with the original poster. I've had to listen to a few people who know nothing about hockey say "Yeaaa...the Canucks aren't playing very well yet" and I've had to explain over and over that they shouldn't even look at the results in preseason since only about 20% of the people in the lineup will be there Oct 5th.

NextRedden is the FIRST person whom I've heard make a comment about Luongo being a dissapointment in Vancouver. It's been two preseason games...PRESEASON. I think I speak for all of us in the City of Vancouver when I say "SHUT YOUR MOUTH". Thank you.

Luongo finally picks up a win in preseason, Stanley Cup, here we come!

We gotta keep up with the "goalie graveyard" name somehow right?

I agree. I don't think Luongo won't be as good as Auld since he has a lot of pressure. I think it would be okay if they kept Auld but trade Bertuzzi with different guy or some good draft picks.

I realise you're not too keen on English but please don't tell me you meant to say that Luongo won't be as good as Auld.

No, you said he's not as good as Auld. I'm going to drive home, catch some dinner and the MNF tivo. I want to see 5 valid reasons why you think Luongo isn't as good as Auld. I hate to hand out homework but this warrants it.

1. I am afraid that he becomes like Khabibulin. He used to be good at Tempa but sucks at Chicago. Refecting the story, Luongo used to be good at Florida, but he is "not good so far" at Vancouver.

2. Auld was rookie but played well. Luongo is veteran, even played for the nation, but played like Auld. I haven't missed any highlights of Vancouver. But he has mistaken like when Auld allowed goal.

3. Luongo did many small mistakes. (related with reason 2).

Come on! he gotta know what's he doing! I don't think he stays on focus.

4. Luongo is paid $6.75 million,

which means Vancouver expects that he should be better than Auld. But he has shown awful performance.

5. I'll post later. Running out of time.

First of all, that goalie graveyard thing was meant as a joke, but I guess it didn't quite pan out like I thought...

Second of all, you need to chill and not judge a goalie after a few preseason games....

Third of all, do you watch hockey? like NHL hockey? Auld better than Luongo? Maybe you don't watch enough west coast games, but I don't recall too many times where Auld won games for the 'Nucks the way Luongo won games for the Panthers.

Seeing as how Luongo won the last game in shoot-out, he's going to win every shoot-out from now on too eh? <_<

Huh... Thanks for reminding me it just pre season. I was too overacting.

you know what? I'm a Vancouverite (I guess that's the word, but that's beside the point) and I'm hoping that Luongo fails miserably just to see the looks on your faces and the replies in your forums. You know, then you guys can claim that "you were right all along" and that "Luongo wasn't as good as Auld".

As for the comment on Khabibulin, I'd like to reply by asking you to direct yourself (yes, you're a big boy now) to any document that outlines the amount of talent the Blackhawks had last season. I think after you peruse their depth chart last year, the answer to his performance (or lack thereof, however you want to put it) will become quite evident.

btw we all know auldy gave up many weak goals last season

not to mention everytime the auldy chant came on he let in a goal ohh only about.. 100% of the time. The guy couldn't even keep it together against NYI, could've been 8-0 but it was 8-1.

he only let in one goal that game i don't see how he didn't 'keep it together'.

Don't tell me regulars on the canucks forums are starting to flock over to msh...hopefully we don't start seeing "Sign Coulombe NOW" or "Trade Kesler" threads.

and for the record Auld was perhaps one of the few bright spots on the team last season.

the guys on Canucks forums are purebred idiots with the exception of a very few

the goal he let in on NYI was something he should've had for sure. Besides, it was NYI.. but he's let in a lot of softies last season

DO you guys think he wont play as well because he wont get as many shots? I seem to remember when Cujo played for the oilers he got a bunch of shots all the time and played good, but when he got traded to a team where he didnt get half as many shots, he never seemed to be as good.

i was wondering the same thing with regards to a lower shot count for Luongo this season, but I guess we'll see.

its good to finally see some people that arent' Leafs or Rangers fans supporting their team for once, but with that said, I don't see the Canucks doing all that much this season, I'd say they'll just barely make the playoffs

Nope, with a 1-2 record in the preseason, it's obvious that we need to fire the coach, and get someone in there who means business, like Keenan. Trade away Linden, the Sedins, and Naslund, to free up some space under the cap, and bring in some talent. Hell, Domi's probably not far from game shape, and with a divorce going ugly, he's gonna need some cash. And, we should get some new jerseys, just so we can make a few bucks off the fans from changing up all the merchandise. Once that's in place, we'll pull pole, and follow the Grizzlies down to Memphis or wherever the hell it is that they went to. AND WE SHOULD TAKE NONIS OUT BACK AND BEAT THE HELL OUT OF HIM UNTIL WE GET BACK PAT QUINN!! OH SWEET GOD, WHERE DID WE GO WRONG!!!???

Or, we could just wait a few games into the regular season and see what happens once the lines are firmed up. Just a thought.

CuJo fell off alot during his last year or two on the Leafs. He started letting in a fair number of weak goals at bad times. He was still getting a ton of shots against as well.

pre season is about rookies and prospects trying to make the nhl or at least the ahl, coaches looking at players.players trying to get that flow back.the last preseason game most likely would be the team.
