Recommended Posts

Knee trouble topic was made once.

But my question is:

Is there any special treatment? or Should I wait for long time to get better?

I'm going to have first school team practice soon. Gosh, it's really hurt.

I think it happened when I played in Stick and Puck in local rink (for being ready)

any ideas? Thanks

Talk to your sports doctor, get into physio ASAP if there's an injury. Physio can help prevent a mild injury from turning into a severe one.

If the injury was very recent, IE you hurt it a day ago and it's swelling ice it down and do not use heat. if it's a chronic type thing where it just aches after use, put a heat pack on it. The heat helps relax muscles and increase blood flow which will help an injury heal. Don't use heat for it if you're about to go skate or whatever, only do it after activity or during a rest period. Take some ibuprofin (motrin, etc) to help with swelling.

Seriously though, go see your doctor if it hurts a lot. Better to be overcautious with a joint injury rather than hope it'll go away. That's what I did with my knee, it hurt all the damn time for a year and a half after I hurt it untill I had reconstructive surgery, now I can't so much as go for a run outside without having to wear a fairly bulky knee brace. Take care of your joints, you don't want to be a cripple later in life just so you can go play some high school hockey.

You can ice ist and take anti-inflamatories, they may help lessen the pain and swelling, but do what your doctor says, not what anonymous people on a message board say.

I dont mean to hijack your thread, but this prolly isn't worth starting a new topic. Some times, If I bend my knee fast it will make a crack or a pop noise. Kind of like when you crack your knuckles. Just a short quick *pop*. Both knees do it, but its not a constant thing by any means, just seems to happen some times. No Pain or swelling or anything like that, but I always wondered what it was? Any ideas?

Take it from a guy who has 2 bum knees...see a doctor before you do anything serious. You can do a lot of damage without knowing it. Knee injuries are forever so get it looked at now and heed what the doctor says.

I'm not telling him exactly what to do, but after three knee injuries, two surgeries, and tons of physiotherapy I'd say I have a pretty good idea of the basics, not to mention my physiotherapist is the head therapist for the Canadian olympic team. If it's an old injury where you've torn or damaged something in the past and not recent (more than about 48 hours), ice is going to do nothing but give you a false sense of security, temporarily numbing it and making you think it's better. Ice will only cut down blood flow to that area when it's trying to heal and needs as much blood as possible in the area, which is why heat helps more.
