CCM Vector 6.0 skates?

Recommended Posts

i caught a deflection the other day and it barely missed the unprotected part of the skate, needless to say, i still felt it.

is it me or is the skate shell a little low on the inside of the foot?

on my old bauers, the shell went up to just below the lace eyelets.

i can get a finger and a half from the top of the shell to the eyelets on the vector skates.

Well might be once in a lifetime hit too since it hit at the right angle. If it really concerns you, fashion some sorta pad or get new cowlings...haven't seen the cowlings on CCMs as compared to others so idk how different they are.

they are kinda thin and have a low rise compared to my bauers and a pair of graffs that one of the keepers here in town has.

i found some extra padding laying around the other day.

im going to take it to an alteration shop and see if they can do something with it.

click here to see what im talking about

a few people say that the CCM skates have a low rise inner shell.

this pic prooves it.

i just sent mark at vortek this picture and am wating on his reply.

they are busy atm, so if they are able to do an extension on the calf wing, ill have to a wait a few months to ship them out. id rather wait and have the factory do it than take it to someone else that i know doesnt know shit about hockey gear. a problem living in the south east us....

Not to be rude, but you're going to feel shots from time to time. You can't go out and try to beef up your gear whenever you feel a shot.

i know this. ive played for over 15 years and i have been hit with stingers everywhere the sun shines.

but having a 1.5" gap of NO protection on my foot is something i dont want to have to deal with.

and whats wrong with beefing up gear to keep from getting injured? seems logical to me? the pros do it with extra padding on the inside of the goal skate.

you may like to be injured, i dont.

The thing with most of the new skates and all other equipment coming out now are they are specific to styles of play. The new vector skates are geared towards the b-fly goalie because of the low shell. As a b-fly goalie that part of your foot should never be exposed to a shot. If you are a standup goalie making the old school skate saves then you might want to look into a more sturdy skate like the bauer supreme series.

ahh...

didnt really think of that.

the more i use the Vortek pads the more i am starting to incorporate the b-fly style.

i was a mix of mainly old school kicks saves and stand-up before i got the pads.

as the pads are a butterfly designed, i had to change my style too. so im almost re-training myself how to play goal.
