Iginla's Flex

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I'm looking at buying an Iginla ST but I'm not sure what flex he uses. I think I remember someone saying 85 but that would be to whippy for me. Any one know for sure a 90-95 would be great.

Whenever I hear this type of thing, I wonder if maybe I should try out a lower flex. I'm about 6'1, 195, and I've always used 100 flex, but I wonder if there'd be any significant benefits to going to an 85 flex or if it wouldn't be beneficial since I'm so used to the 100 flex. Anyone have experience changing over, and what were your thoughts?

It depends on your style of play. I switched from 100 to 85 (6'3" 205lbs) and my wrist shot is much improved, but my slapshot has gotten worse. Having said that, I rarely get my slapper off in-game anyway, so it's no real loss. I would say look at the type of player you are and then make a determination.

I am actually 6'2 about same weight 190-195. 2 Years ago went down to an 85 flex after many years with a 100 flex. Best thing i ever did. Everything improved, even slapshots -- plus i didnt have to put in the same amount of force on my slappers to get the same results -- let the stick do the work for me. I was so good i tried to go down to a Whip flex-- but that was actually too whippy -- way to much lag on my shots-- and everything -- including snappers suffered.

I did that with the exact same results. 85 flex FTW!

it was the oppistie for me. i'm 5'9"ish and weigh a lil less than 160 and ive been using a 75 zbubble with a sicore blade, then went up to a 85 zbubble with the cnt blade, and now to using a 102 xxx lite i used the 85 a few skates ago and noticed it being whippier than im used too. hte only noticable difference between the the 102-85 and the 85-75 is that your slapper gets a lil weaker but your snap shot has greater accuracy then your stiffer sitck

but then again its all personal preference
