How do you pop the end out of a OPS to cut it down?

Recommended Posts

I need to cut about 1.5 inches off a CCM Vector OPS before I tape it up for use. There is a plastic plug in the end. How does that come out of there so I can cut the stick and then put the plug back in?

Why not just put tape right over top of the plastic cover, down the side of the shaft about 1/2 inch?

I actually do both... once around the inside... then a bit around the top.

I usually just cut the stick first, then use a screwdrive to pop the cap out from the inside.

I just leave the plastic cap off, then tape over the open end of the stick as part of my buttend. I'm just used to doing it this way from pretty much every shaft I've owned. I have like 6 plastic caps sitting in a drawer in my room.

I do the same on most sticks. If I'm getting a lot of vibration in a shaft, I'll cut off a piece of the skinnier part of a wooden butt end and plug it into the end of the shaft so it's flush with the top (ie does not add any length). Seems to work, or maybe it's just in my head....If you ever want to remove it, just screw in a screw and yank with the back of a hammer.
