TheSnake22 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 I've seen these wheels on closeout at a few sites, anyone skated on them? are either anything close to a top of the line mini-hub wheel or would i be wasting my time? Both seem like good deals, especially with the one coming with free bearings...http://hockeywheelz.com/redststmi.htmlhttp://hockeywheelz.com/redstsnsetwm.html

Joker518 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 As a matter of fact, it looks like half the stuff that site is selling is just items they bought off eBay and jacked up the prices on. Pretty funny

TheSnake22 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Ok so no one seems to like the snipers, what about the stileto's? was more interested in those anyway, but i do like the color of the snipers lol... 21 dollars for wheels and bearings, not that i'd use them but backups cant hurt, and including shipping... can't be that bad of a deal...21 for stilettos, 80 for RR mb816's... are the RR's 4x better? DangleSpud 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Right now I'm skating on the snipers, straight 76mm on the sprung chassis. They seem to be holding up and stop fine. I figure for the price, wheels and bearings for $21, and they get me around from a-b, Good enough for me. I've also had the stelettoes, same ebay buy. They actually lasted a while. Not the best "feel" but worth the $20. Besides, if you're a good enough skater, you could skate on square wheels. Having actual "game" doesn't come from the wheels. Just buy what you can afford and save what you don't spend and get something that will help you, maybe a nice OPS? Just my thoughts

Just my thoughtsthat's like saying if you're a good enough ice player that you don't need your skates sharpened, wheels can make all the difference in the world. Red Star produces ok products, but if you have the choice of Red Star vs RR, the RR should win that debate everytime unless you are looking for some mediocre wheels to tool around in outside or at a less demanding rink. Wheels and anything else that helps the rest of us are really important. It's more fun when it's easier. If you aren't hampered by so so performing equipment, you can concentrate on being in the right place at the right time. That's the key to an excellent player's game. Joker518 0 Report post Posted December 1, 2006 Snake, playing surface matters big time as well. In defense of the Snipers, I love them but I play primarilly on a wood surface where they have a great combination of grip and durabilities. Rink Rats are awesome but they tear and chunk really fast on my surface... But no doubt, if you are playing on tile based surfaces, you can't beat the feel of Rink Rats
TheSnake22 0 Report post Posted December 2, 2006 Well... i do play for a sponsored team, however we only get gloves, pants and helmets for free... everything else is cost... this includes rink rat wheels, but at because they are in such high demand, it can take a long time to get them in, which is one of the reasons i was looking into a quick-fix cheap alternative for getting some mini-hub wheels... im sure i'll end up on RR's eventually, as they are what i'm skating on now, but i probably wont be able to get new ones from our rep until sometime in january... the only red-stars i've ever skated on were a set of C6 carbon wheels that i had about 3 years ago and they performed pretty well and lasted me a long time... Believe it or not, some people actually think there are wheels out there better than RR's... i've really only skated on them for the past couple years, so i cant really compare, which is why i was looking for another opinion from someone that might have skated on the Stilettos... But thanks to everyone for the opinions
