NBH Supreme 30, 40 or 50 for youth

Recommended Posts

I am looking to buy my 8 year old new skates as he has a wide foot. I thought I would go with the NBH Supreme EE width. Is there much difference between these 3 models? Is it worth it to buy the 50 or should I stay with the 30 or 40 for a young kid.

Thanks!

He is in in his 3rd year of hockey - novice II. We have Novice I, II, and III in our area - Novice I being the best hockey. Twice a week he's on the ice - 1 game and 1 practice and about 4 tournaments in the year.

Thanks for your input.

Wouldnt go with what you think...go with what fits him or you'll be in this situation again. On the topic of the skate model, don't be afraid of spending on a nicer model, might find that he improves a lot and then you wouldn't need to worry about upgrading so often.

I am with LChockey24. Go with a higher end skate from a previous year. I will say that you need to do your homework. I have a 9 year-old that plays AAA (Yes, it's too young, but what I am getting at is that he is a very strong skater) that I bought a pair of clearance Bauer 8090s for and they were WAY too stiff for him. My boy is pretty skinny and the stiff skate was just too much. The REALLY good skates seem to be made with some of the same materials as the adult ones.

$99 for xx's is good. seeing as he is only 8, you could go with a 13 or 13.5 and use 2 pairs of insoles. yes they will be a little big, but he will have good skates as he develops.

Please don't give skate advice.

Giving a kid too big of a skate is counterproductive to his development, regardless of the quality of the boot.

I suggest the RBK 9K Pump in youth. I have a 7 year old in them. Great skates, stainless blade. Try them at your LHS

This is all good advice, I was going to take him to the LHS this week. Wanted to do some homework in advance. I have always found the Bauer EE a nice wide skate. I think I will try the 40 or 50 and stay with a 12 as length is good. Is there much difference between a Supreme 40 and Supreme 50?

Thanks,

sorry.

i was just showing that the xx's were a great price.

some people cant afford to buy their child new skates every year and must do this. an 8 year olds foot grows spurratically and no parent would want to spend $ on skates then the kid not fit them in a month.

if money isnt a problem, then i would definately keep the same size boot
