I'm sure Montreal misses Ribeiro now...

All this on the fourth line...

G6 A13 P19 +9 PM8

And now someone on the team taught him to lay people out...

at 1.9M$ a year for a power play specialist, what a steal!

Where paying this Samsonov guy 4Mil$ what a shame...

don't even want to get into Niinimaa, what a joke...

It's not fair to assume that he'd be putting up those numbers if he had stayed.

He needed a change...I think THAT is what you can attribute his success to...the change of scenery. New teammates...WAY less media scrutiny. If he has a bad game, or a bad shift...he can get away with it in Texas...he couldn't in Montreal. He is probably way more relaxed too...because in Montreal, he was often the first guy the media went too...in Texas (even with his good numbers) he's...what...4th 5th on the list? Modano, Morrow, Lindros, Turco would all be ahead of him for most media down there...

Just goes to prove..."Everything is bigger in Texas"....even Ribeiro's numbers.

WTH are you talking about? his point per game production is the same bro...

They will always be the same...

His PPG is the same this year as last year...fine. But that was a decline from the previous year. He was on the decline in Montreal...so if he puts up the same numbers in Dallas that he did last year in Montreal, I'm saying his numbers wouldn't be what they are if he had stayed in Montreal....

I disagree, one year does not define a player, you can't say he would of had a bad year in MTL... He would of had nore time on ice in MTL, the hardest thing to do in the NHL is to be constant... dude at the price he gets paid is a bargain... Guys like Samsonov and Kovalev don't do smack right now and they have all the ice time in the world...

Montreal is missing Higgins alot more than this guy. Remember a while ago when he (Ribeiro) was in a fight the Saku, not a good way to get the team spirit up when you fight the captain. I don't think he was ever liked in the dressing room.

He was liked in the dressing room....but not by everyone. There was a fairly well known clic (sp?) of guys...Ribs, Theodore and Pierre Dagenais..

Hmmmm....all 3 were struggling, and now all 3 are no longer in town. BG knows what he's doing.

Kovalev and Samsonov may not be lighting it up the way they hoped, but they aren't a negative force at practice and in the room.

Yes, Higgins is missed more than Ribeiro.

Yes, Higgins is missed more than Ribeiro.

Of course but Higgins brings a different aspect to the ice, PK man and gets production off effort, Ribs is PP specialist and gets production of vision and talent...

If you are trying to say that Higgins has more pure talent then Ribeiro, you lost your mind, Ribs has more vision then Higs will ever have, like Samsonov said, Ribs can make something out of nothing...

Kovalev and Samsonov are negative, 9Mil$ tied up on two guys that don't work hard is always a problem...

If one year does not define a player how does half a year? The point is, he might be in a more comfortable situation in Dallas.

Its not Ribeiro's production in Dallas that pisses me off it's what a useless player we got back in return. I wanted Ribeiro traded as badly as anyone but as soon as I heard the trade I wanted him back. Just because he had to be dealt didn't mean we could just do Dallas a favour like that.

I knew Niniimaa's best days were behind hime, but I thought he'd be better than he has been.

I'm surprised he hasn't been waivered to Hamilton yet.

How can any self respecting Habs fan even consider taking Riberio back. Especially after his flop seen round the world in the playoffs vs Boston? Samsonov is more talented but hes not the problem. Kovalev could be the best player in the league but he has no interest, they need to move him as soon as possible.

Watch it there homey, I am a Habs fan and I liked Ribs allot, hes a great playmaker.... Get over the Boston thing, Fosberg dives all day and i don't see you get on him... Hater!

I don't even know how you can say something this dumb about a guy that leads his team in scoring playing on the fourth line and on the power play on a winning team (20 and 10) putting the same kind of numbers as a guy named Modano...

Stop hating man, the boy is money...

Actually watching Dallas games this season though? Hes not even a major factor in games, except for the power play. Modano is still the face of that team, the best player hands down, regaurdless of stats.

Actually I would probably put Modano, Turco and Zubov ahead of Riberio..

And Morrow and Lindros and... He is a nobody in Dallas and there is pressure from others to play hockey and not be so flamboyant. The trade worked out very well for him.

True, the fact that there are players that are more well known has helped him, but I wouldn't say that he's not a major factor in games. He is tied for the team lead in points and with Modano, Morrow, Lindros, and Miettinen all out of the line up he's getting more and more playing time.

flamboyant? hes far from flamboyant, hell ovechkin is flamboyant and i don't see you dogging him... All i know is that may he be a factor or not, hes a great player, gets points, he has a good +/- and makes the power play work...

What people really hate is that he makes it look easy and hes a smirky kid...

Shhhh that play has no bearing on his character, hes the best playmaker in the league. :P

and as of tonight hes the best scorer in D town

Correction, he's the highest scoring player in Dallas, not the best. He has 8 more games than Morrow and three more than Modano or Lindros. I'm sure other teams will stop playing their best defensemen against Modano and put them out against Ribeiro.

and to clarify that, he felt pain on the play because of his collar bone he broke earlyer in the year on a check by Volchenkov...

Look it up, i spoke to him (yes we went to the same school back in the day so i know him) he said on his way to the bench he was smiling and taunting the Boston bench as to show he was not hurt and everyone said he as faking it as a result...

people who know him know the truth, you my friend just hate him as a result of one event, at the time he was young and knew no better... You never want to show guys your hurt in the playoffs, thats why everything today is a upper and lower body injury...

best, highest blah blah blah... numbers don't lie bro... and staying away from injury is part of being a good player by the way...
