Canada's WJC Team

Recommended Posts

Two players who play with my brother in Lewiston, Goalie Jonathan Bernier and 2-way center Marc-Andre Cliche will be in the Team Canada roster so it will be fun to watch for me how these 2 will be doing this year.

Bernier just got sent home, I didn't see Cliche's name on the cuts though.

Damn, big surprise there for Bernier. I was sure he was going to make it. He was even suppose to be the #1. I'm sure he's so disapointed right now.

It's always been Price's job to lose. He was a surprise cut last year and for him to do anything, but start this year would be a huge surprise.

Hockeys all about politics

I know a kid around here whos one of the best players and he got cut from the AAA team.

Why?

Because his last coach hated him and is the head hauncho for the board for this team.

Espo's an offensive guy, and Canada's top 6 is fairly set. His draft stock is falling quickly as well, he went from being a "phenom" to being a likely top 3 pick now. Very similar to Spezza's path right now, minus the WJC teams, but Spezza's teams were all much weaker too. They are saying Team Canada's D is at an NHL level, so look for Price to havea good tourney.

My understanding was Bernier is close to Irving, but Irving had the inside track anyways.

i'm kinda suprised bernier was cut too, especially being a first rounder last year, and leading canada to under-18 gold. friend of mine played in lewiston last year and said he was the best goalie he's ever seen. i've got a feeling this years tournie is going to be just like last years...a cake walk for canada. there's no reason for them to lose with the talent and experience they have.

One guy to watch IMO is youngster Sam Gagner. The kid is so smooth and he has awesome skills. He will dangerous on the power play, that's for sure.

I have the same feeling too...

I'm curious about how and where you get to see those guys play, Gagner for example... Did you see highlights on the news or ... ?

Devin Setoguchi was cut yet again. He is The sharks first round draft pick from last year or 2 years ago. I dont know why he keeps getting cut but he hasn't had as good of a season as he has had in the past. Discussion on this?

Excited to see Price in net, he had a really good camp with the Habs. Just by seeing Craig Hartsburg talking about Letang yesterday I knew he was going to be the captain.

His work ethic is average at best. He has having a bad year on a team that is greatly underacheiving and I don't think he really has the heart or the skill to stick on a World Jr. team.

Setoguchi's playing for the PG Cougars. They are, as Adam91 said, very underachieving. The crowds we get are very small compared to some arenas and he hasn't impressed me one bit when I've watched him play.

It's nice to see a former teammate and friend there. Brad Marchand that is, representing Nova Scotia!

Yeah I would have to agree with you. He should be leading his team in points since he has the experience being a 19 year old turning 20 in the league. I remember going to watch the blades and he would just rip it up. Havn't seen much this year from him.

Canada winning in O.T.

Halischuk scoring it, scramble in front of the net.

Also noticed when they came off the bench one of the players went to jump in the pile and completly flipped over lol.
