Bauer 5000 vs Mission Intake helmet

Recommended Posts

I currently use a bauer 5000 helmet, and i'm thinking of switching to a Mission Intake helmet. Is it worth it to switch over to the intake or stay with the 5000?

i own the 8000,5000, and intake.

the intake is my favorite. i find the intake wider and it just fits my head like a glove. i would definately switch if i were you, but it just depends on if/how it fits your head.

btw, i got my intake on ebay brand new for $45

Like LChockey said get the one that fits youre head better and the decide. I find the 5500/5000 lighter then the intake but on the other hand the intake has better airflow and would sit on your head better with the help of the (thing at the back forgot what it is called.)

I like the 5500 because it fits my head much better. it feels narrower to me(not that i have a narrow head) but it seems to fit more snug to my head then the intake. also the Intake felt as though it was cheaply made and i cannot stand the way it looks accept for on certain pros and a few select people. But besides that haha you should try them on if possible and if not just pick from looks becauese they will both suit you very well.

I was actually considering switching back to the Bauer 8000/8500 from the Intake. The Bauer feels more comfortable to me and I like the looks of the Bauer more cosmetically. This is just another one of those personal preference issues for myself. Both helmets offer excellent protection and both are very good quality. I just don't want to go shelling out more money on equipment, because I really don't have any problems with the Mission Intake presently, so this can wait.

I was deciding between the 5500 and the Intake, and went for the Intake. I found the intake fit my head a little better (my head is a little wide), promised better air flow (didn't compare them in a game), and the occipital lock for only $10 more.

Actually, the 5500 large fit me a bit big and the medium didn't fit at all...both the Intake large and medium fit fine so I went with the medium. Kind of weird.

Mission sits higher on your head. Just check where the ear pieces cover on your head, when it's on your head, at least this ws the case for me. Your comparing a 10 year old design to a new one. I still wear both, and if I had tochose i would take the mission, looks cooler(yes looks cooler) and feels good on the head overall. I still wear the 5000 though, and allthough the padding is somewhat hard, it's still doing it's job.
