1052 Custom Lites ----> RBK 9K

Recommended Posts

I currently have the orginal 1052 Custom Lite's. I absoultely Love these skates, and have lasted 6 years with very little degredation. But albeit, it is time for a new pair and demote the 1052's to backup's. I am seriously concidering the new 9K's, and am curious as to how they would fit compared to the 1052s. The 1052's I have are a size 10D, when I was in Perani's last I had them put the barnnock on me for the rbk's and they suggested a 9.

Sub Question: Do the 5K's and 9K's fit the same? We have an MC Sports in town that carries the 5K, and was maybe hoping I could get away with getting Fit there with the 5's and order the 9's online.

Thanks in advance

Now now, that's not the most ethical thing to do, is it?

Why are you going to waste that salesman's time by having him fit you for skates when you aren't even giving him the business?

I know you are new on here, so consider that your first smackdown.

Kid you should probably just wait for the new CCMs. Ask JR when they come out; he knows all that kind of stuff.

Cuz they don't have the 9's... If they Had the 9's, I would LOVE nothing more than facilitate local businesses. (That's all I do, I religiously patron businesses that advertise at our arena too :P) I just might have to suck it up and take a 2 hour drive to Flint and hit Perani's and have them fit me up.

They come out in the Spring, right? lol

Per yahoo maps,

Distance: 189.2 miles Time: 2 Hours 55 Mins (Approx)

I know it's not the Best place in the world, but we have an account there and can get stuff for wholesale (Minus Easton, and I think now Warrior)

I am going to assume this has been addressed a million times this week alone...

I ALWAYS try to give the local businesses all of my attention and dollars, but for some reason, in this particular business, its almost impossible.

I have no problem paying a little extra on each item, but in the majority of cases, its not even in the same ballpark.

My Vector 10.0's.

Locally,I got a "BREAK" at $495 (didnt know any better)

My second pair (different size, locally sold the wrong size) bought online, $359

My 2 Rbk 7k sticks

Local...$179

Online...$119

Hell, I bought a pair of the white Reebok 9k's 2 days ago and was told they had "no wiggle room" off of the advertised $750. 2 days later I call a different shop to get a quote and to buy a backup pair, try $140 Canadian less.

Then they break out the "overhead and costs" thing. Do you guys not think the big boys warehouses and 30 employees cost money???

Sorry for this rant, but I assume in a free society, we are allowed to express our opinions, and in this bizzaro biz, the whole "what can you get taken for" seems to be a prevalent practice.

You're dealing with Beaudin and Rinkside...they've always had high prices.

Back when I was at RDV in Orlando I was competitive with Internet.

Yes, the more you buy, the bigger discount you get. It's actually pretty simple. In some cases, the local shops can't simply afford to stay competitive. And in the other case, some decide to keystone their stuff.

However, it is not cool to go into a store and use them as a showroom.

The RBK:s fits wider in the heel and midfoot. It's a deeper fitting boot (high volume) when compared to the Tacks that is pretty shallow. Try them on to see if they work for you. You might also want to look at the CCM Vector:s.
