Backes is an unknown call-up from the AHL, but he's made some noise in the past few games, including a gem of a pass to Tkachuk vs. NJ on Wed. night.

I saw it on TSN tonight...I don't know if the play itself is "amazing" but his presence of mind to make that pass is pretty good.

Crafty play. He really whacked at that one, and it was a bouncing puck too.

Brian Gionta's goal batting it out of mid-air wasn't bad either.

The Gionta goal was also a feat to behold, I agree.

Also, how can you say it was pure luck? He clearly meant to make the pass and know he had Tkachuk back there, watch his head when he makes the play, he wasn't just slapping at the puck in hopes of putting it on net or in front or something.
