Follow up question for people who have many sticks.

Recommended Posts

For all you guys who have those impressive stick collections, a few questions came to mind. Do you actually use all of them? Do you just grab whatever you feeling like playing with that particular game? Second, what about different curves and lengths? Are they all cut the same length or do you keep some different than others? And what about the curves? Do you find it difficult to play with different curves all the time?

I've messed with various curves... some worked, some didn't at all. A few of mine are different lengths too....nothing too drastic. Especially where I'm a beginner, it took me a bit to find what stick setup worked best for me. If I could do it over again, I would have started with a 2 piece combo and found the perfect lie, curve, stiffness for me then graduated to OPS'.

I would (and sometimes still do) mess with curves if it piques my interest. The bulk of my sticks are made up mainly of two shafts I use that are no longer produced that I buy whenever I find. After that they're mainly OPS with a pattern I like.

I usually have one primary stick and then the rest of them - whether they be newer or older. In terms of characteristics, I work off what I did and did not like about the last primary stick when I move to a new one.

I've lately been messing around with curves, because My Macdaddy is getting tired, and Im trying to pick up an Xn10, but They don't really have an Iginla curve, so I've just tried a Drury blade, but It shoots way too high, and Im thinking of a less open heel curve like a tucker or similar to the perry for the Xn10, but not a Tkchuck because forsberg style blades dont work for me. Scince the Hockey shop only has limited quantities left I dont have many options for whip besides a Nash which, I can use, but it's not perfect...

TPS's Iginla curve is the Messier if Im not mistaken.

I have 4 retail modano clones, which is my curve of choice. Anything else is a two piece/shaft or a pro stock that piqued my interest or I got cheap. Now that I've got a pair of tapered shafts, I'm probably going to experiment a bit more with curves. I've been wanting to try mission's ribeiro and a drury clone...and an iginla... it never ends.

everything is pretty much the same length and flex, except for my Kyle McLaren woodie that I never used. It's taller than I am.

Most of my curves are Sakic-ish and the lengths are pretty much the same, sometimes if I see a strange kind of curve I may give it a go for the hell of it, the latest time I did this was with a broken looking toe curve, if they don't work out I ussually end up swapping with a teammate or just keeping it until it is wanted by someone.

As for what I use I'm mainly into my Inno's and Warriors at the moment mainly due to the feel but when ever I break a stick I ussually go back on with an XN10 for some reason. :D

just when I say "I gotta cool it with the sticks"... I come home with a RBK Sickick.. *shakes head*

new pattern though, I went with the Phaneuf (06's Pronger) as opposed to the Modano (Fedorov, etc)
