BitTorrent Help

Recommended Posts

Alright, while I was at home for the holidays, I was downloading movies and music and whatnot with ease using torrents, but now that I'm back at school, in res, when I attempt to download a torrent file from a website, it just never works. The download window opens, and it just says "Starting" and goes no further. It must be something to do with the internet here at school, but I can't quite figure out what to do to change it. Is there any settings I could change to allow me to download the torrents, or programs that will let me download the torrents from the websites?

Most school networks block the ports that torrent programs use.

check your pm box.

I still get the same problem. My problem isn't in using utorrent, it's trying to download the files from, say isohunt.com, to open up in utorrent. They just don't download. I tried downloading the file, no go, and I tried downloading and opening it directly to utorrent, and still no go. It just says "download starting..." and never starts.

I think I read somewhere that some schools block certain file types from being downloaded i.e. torrents. As a result, some sites, such as Demonoid.com (registration open on Fridays only), allow for the files to be downloaded as .http files I believe, or something along those lines.

Edit: I'm dumb. You can download them as text files, not .http files. I don't even know what the hell that means.
