Curve Question

Recommended Posts

I just broke my Bauer XX P91 87. I like the curve, and how it gets the puck up really quickly, but the backhand was near impossible to achieve. Any suggestions on what curve to get? I'd like to be able to get shots (forehand And backhand) up quick in close, but still be able to keep control of the slapshot. I've printed off the whole curve DB, but not much to go by without pics. I don't care about toe shape, or blade length, and I'm pretty flexible on Lie. Pro Stock curves also an option, Left Handers. Thanks in advance

If none, any suggestions on how to get the P91 backhand to work, and any Pro Stocks similar or equal to P91

Please, Constructive replies only.

My Technique is fine, I could put the puck anywhere I wanted For/backhand with the Easton Modano/Forsberg. But I'm in the process of trying new stuff out, see if I can find something I like better. Plus I can get stuff at Wholesale, Except for Easton, so it's also a $ thing too.

I use a 3/8" mid-heel as well. The reason why I use it is BECAUSE of my technique. I can't bring my self to roll my wrists over when I shoot, so I don't do well with any face that's open. Like you I did well with the 3/8" MH, but decided I wanted to try others like the drury/ YP (I think because that's what most of the pros use). Bottom line is..if you can put the puck anywhere you want with "X" curve, then I think you know what curve you need....even if it's not the coolest :P .

Right, I Know I can do anything with that, mostly cuz that's all i've ever played with. But I'm just experimenting with other curves now, just seeing if there's something out there I Haven't played with, that I can do just as well with, and more importantly, get for cheaper ;) Plus, it's just fun to experiment with other brands/styles, and figure out what really is best for me.. if I don't find anything I like, Back to the 3/8 MH

Well, you could give the CCM Lecavalier/Mission Ribeirio/TPS Perry a shot. Its a heel curve thats slighter than the Lidstrom and less open than the Drury. The lie is a little lower than the Drury, but it should be close.

If you want to play with a big boy curve with that much of an open face, you're going to have to accept the fact somethings (like backhanders and wristshots) are going to suffer.

miker, Thnx.. I'll give them a look.

Mack, not the kind of 'Constructive Reply' I was looking for.

Any Pro Stock (LH) Curves to try?

How will Prospal's pro stock curve perform?

Well that's TS, it's something you'll have to live with as a curve as wedgey/open as a YP/91 will kill your backhand. Just find a variant that's not as open. That won't be hard since it's the most common pro curve around.

Obviously I KNOW it kills the backhand, that's why I'm Asking for Opinions on other curves that I might want to try.

So without any idea of what you actually want, you disregard the numerous curve threads to get your own idea and just want answers thrown out? Cool.

Go with an Easton Ciccarelli.

Fantastic, e-hi five to you.

I'd go with an RP/Styles as backhands aren't lost as much as they are on other heels with shovel. As for slapshots, they should never suffer from the curve.

just work on your backhand form, lowering your lower hand is an easy way to help with getting it up. I like smaller mid curves but I have a lidstrom and a lecavalier and I can roof a backhand with both of them. It's all in your form.

Roenick Pro. A quick search will bring up pics (eBay probably has a few on there too) but it's a nice little heel curve with shovel to it.

Yeah, Those look Great...But those are RH...do you know of any LH Clones? I didn't see any mentioned in the threads I looked at

hmm.. interesting. They are Pro Stocks..but come both hands? Is that like a SMU type of thing for retailers? Know of anywhere off hand to get the RP LH?

They are offered that way because they are popular patterns in the pros.

SMU has nothing to do with this and again, I refer you to eBay for those. I think Ponty was selling one as well. Depending on what flex/model you want, HockeyMonkey has them as well but they are complete retards.

I just checked ebay, nothin...

And I just got an RBK 7K bag from the monkeyspank, went pretty smooth. I have a wholesale connection at Perani's here in MI, JR's not a big fan, but I haven't had any probs. Might call and see what they have.

If you're staying away from the modano/forsberg blade only b/c of the price of Eastons why not go with a clone?

For NBH, it's the PM9 (was Hossa, now St. Louis for 06-7), TPS' Tkachuk, Mission's Elias/Boyes in '07, Warrior's Fedorov, CCM's Stuart/Steen, and RBK's P34 Modano.

If there are other reasons, then all that typing was for naught.

You may want to look into a Stillman Response. I've got one and it's chock full of wedgey goodness, but not too extreme. Honestly, I wouldn't know where to begin looking for one though.

I've tried the Elias, Fedo, and RBK, I do like em, but like I said, I'm just experimenting with other styles, seeing what else is out there, shits n giggles type o' thing. I MIGHT just say F-it and get a XXX-Lite PM9 tomorrow, and experiment later. I'll keep an eye out for the TPS though.

Edit: You could say I'm on a 'Learning Curve'

Consider trying an Iginla or mid curve. I can't shoot with a forsberg, and a sakic is just too hard to control from going way over the net, Iginla or Lindros (p88) would be perfect for Your situation because they are right in between the two (Ignla perferably). I love the curve, just the best shooting accuracy and it's extremely easy to get used to and control.
