Itech Protective

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market for some new shin and elbow pads to replace the ones I've had for 14 years (Cooper DG 30 JR. 15", and Graf EP3)(I haven't played consistently during that time), and I'm playing beer league now, fairly competetive ~A league.

Oh, how equipment has changed :)

I tried the RBK 6K's. The upper pad on the shin guards was too small and interfered with my pants, and were a little bulkier than I'm used to, didn't really like the liner either. The elbow pads were bulky (big surprise considering what I'm used to haha), felt like they were lined with sand paper and weren't comfortable, part of the problem is that they may have been too small (narrow). I have to return them and eat the shipping and restocking fee

Its frustrating not having a stocked LHS to try various stuff on, and I'm in that in between area of small and medium, could go either way depending on the manufacturer.

The Itech equipment has caught my eye. The liner looks comfy.

I'm eyeing the 660 and 990 shin pads, or even 440 if I can find them online in 14". Is there much difference in bulkiness between the three? From online pictures it looks like the 440 and 660 is more narrow towards the heel, is that true? I'm fairly thin, so that might be a benefit. How does the bulkiness compare to the RBK 6K? I'm not diving to block shots, but want to be protected of course, so any thoughts?

As far as elbow pads. The 990 would probably be overkill. The 220 or 440 would do. Most likely the 220 would be enough seeing as what I'm wearing now and haven't had too many issues except the occasional burn on the arm from a hook and a rare hard fall on the elbow which could definitely be felt and hurt. Again, I would like to be protected. Any thoughts? When it comes to size of elbow pads, are they wider as well as longer when the size is increased?

Yes, trying on this equipment would be ideal, but unfortunately it would be a 6 hour drive to do that and I drive a car which I don't wholly trust to make it. So any help would be appreciated :D

Yes, the 990 is definitely overkill. We carried all three: 220, 440, 660. Personally, I love the 660 shinguards. They're not flashy so the kids don't go crazy, but it was an easy sell when I had them try them on.

The 660 EP's are too bulky, you're better off with the 440.

660 shins are a great product and a good price as well. I'm not a fan of the 660 elbows though. They're a two piece setup with a floating bicep cuff, similar to some of the Nike stuff from a couple years ago. If you like that style, you might like them. I usually rip off the bicep cuff of any glove that I use so it doesn't interfere with my shoulder pads.

I have those lmfaoo

Lol What a strange coincidence  No wonder Cooper went out of business, they've been a great shin pad over the years, are still in pretty good condition, but the knee pad is a little cockeyed and the shins get crooked on my leg. I've landed hard on my knee and felt quite a bit of force on my tibia at the knee joint. The Graf EP's have been good also. I still have my Cooper gloves and Cooper fire hydrant helmet (Messier) as well, but have also recently upgraded those.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm going give it shot with the 660 shins and 440 EP's.
