Turbo Puck

Recommended Posts

Looks like a variation of the Propuck. I'm a bit skeptical because of the huge contact area, compared to all the other rilh pucks. On the contrary, pure HDPE disks loosely linked are known to behave quite well outdoors.

Any known retailers ?

my coach brought them to practice once. if anything, they help you do better with an IDS puck. everybody was so frustrated with the turbopuck, because it was so different. all that stuff on their site is lies. ALL LIES!!! it will NEVER replace the IDS puck.

From what I have been told...it is much harder than the traditional inline puck. So even if you think it feels better to shoot/stickhandle, it will hurt like hell if you get hit with it. So...a switch to a puck like this may require an upgrade in a equiptment that more closely resembles ice gear.

Just except that the IDS rules all! :-)

We used them once and I hated it. They were nothing like IDS pucks which was throwing me off also I broke one of them during that game so they don’t last very long.

IDS is the best puck? Seriously I can't get one guy to use it when I bring it to games. I play on smooth concrete but they say it rolls too much, still haven't found a puck that perfectly replicates ice like conditions.

propuck's about as close as I've found. propuck.com, and they're available from epuck.

They seem to be a little sluggish on polished concrete, but work great on asphalt and most indoor surfaces. IDS is still the king for sportcourt.

absolutely. I just think IDS works better than all that cheap stuff out there. we find some in my coach's puck bag at practice, and we definitely like IDS. w00t! funny, they don't make anything else for hockey.

Agreed. Propucks are too low but they handle nicely on bumpy surfaces. IDS is crap on these surfaces but rules indoors.

my personal fave are the rocket pucks, very similar to the IDS, Propucks are ok for outdoor rinks, especially in below around 40 degree weather since they won't shatter like IDS do, but IDS will be the standard for a long time since they are really the best alternative out there.

propuck was great outdoors...good indoors..but like the Rocket Puck..has an adjustment period..ie. you have to play with it like an ice puck and not just a lightweight roller puck...

I wonder if that puck gets around Bellehumer's patents...odd how the only 2 pucks made with vulcanized rubber for roller come out of staten island...

Yeah, I like rocket pucks. I only will use the propuck if I'm playing on pavement or something else that really requires the extra slide. Otherwise, its just too low.

my brother bought it years ago when it first came out because it looked cool. it's kinda "roundish", but the wheels don't actually spin, or really glide. the puck would go on edge, but since the edge wasn't smooth it'd bounce along the asphalt. serious waste of $9, which was kind of a lot at the time, cuz we were young. man was he pissed.

Personally, my favorite was the Jofa puck that they used in the RHI. I think it's labled CCM now. They are not the fastest on the surface, but they sure shoot true and I actually came to love the little extra drag, made for a good snap shot. Although, shooting with those Mach 1's can drive the gaolies crazy, too bad I don't know whether it's going to raise curve, or drop myself.
