Cracked?

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a TPS Response armour control just after x-mas. The stick felt great but i after 2 practices and a game i started to notice a crack forming around where the blade would meet the shaft and the crack got bigger till it was almost all the way around the shaft, so i took it back to the store and they gave me another one. Last night i come home after playing two games and i took a look at the stick and what's there....another small crack is starting to form in the same place as before.

my question is this a crack in the outside coating or is it the actual structure of the stick.

this is the only pic i could get because it was hard to catch sight of it on the camera.

has anyone had a problem like this with the Response armour?

Its the fuse point. The epoxy used to fill the space between the shaft/blade is coming apart. Its happens all the time on fused sticks. No big deal, Its like that all on my TPS and RBK sticks all the around the shaft and I have never broken a stick there.

ive used both an xn10 and adrenaline, and although both held up fairly well, they both cracked rigth at the fuse point when they broke. at first it looks like your picture, and only cosmetic, but eventually the crack worsens. i will try and take pictures if i have time later on, but i have the same situation but worse.

dont wory about it... its more likely just a cosmetic thing... most fused sticks do that at the fuse point... my st looks excatly like that and its going strong still.

here are my experiences

xn10 - think crack around fuse point, large chip at the fuse point. still solid but has lost much of the pop

adrenaline - paint started to crack around the fuse point. after the next icetime the crack worsen and some graphite was chipped, and fuse point was noticably weaker. after the 3rd ice time the stick snapped right at the fuse point, the blade broke right off and the tennon remains inside the shaft. i am going to try and heat it up and pull out the tennon when i get the chance.

the fuse point seems to be the downfall of TPS sticks from my experience

ALL COSMETIC... It's just were the blade meets the shaft, which are glued with epoxy in TPS', so when you flex it, the paint around it warps, expands, and contracts cracking just the paint along the connection line, because the reality of TPS' is that there two pieces with a one piece tape job.

In the end, you got a new stick for one that wasn't even close to breaking buddy...
