XXX skate fit not for me?

I'm in the process of attempting to find a new pair of skates to replace my 12 year old Bauer Supreme 4000's (8D), and thought I had things figured out until today. After much reading on MSH I seem to think XXX's are made to fit my feet the best (medium width, little to no arch). Today I tried on a pair of XXX's (in 8D) and was surprised at how bad they felt. I had a very prominent pain on the top of my foot, just above the arch on my foot towards the inside (if you feel the top of your foot in this area you'll feel a joint). I'm not sure if this pain was due to the shape of my feet or if I really yanked down hard on the laces and the stifness of the boot was a little forgiving. Has anyone experienced this feeling when they first put on their XXX's? Do you think this is simply a break in issue?

Thats why I got the Nike Flexlites with the Shock Doctor skate insoles. Never been in a skate that was so comfortable.

i thought bauers have a high arch, and a deep fit

They are the best. IMO everyone should put them in there skates once they find

something that is good for them.

As for the skates, I was in Vector Pros til I got the 9k's. The Vectors

were the most comfortable skate I've ever worn. Never had an ounce of pain

with them.
