One 90 Issue

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

I recently picked up a pair of 7.5EE One 90's, I've skated on them 5-6 times, total time probably around 9-10 hours on ice. I have a wider foot but not to wide but the issue comes in that they tend to be a bit flat and I have a high instep.

First used the skates and had intense pain in my arches so I went out and picked up a pair of superfeet for my skates, after throwing those in my arches felt great but the pain almost transfered over to the bottom outside portion of my foot and a bit in the inside ball portion of the foot.

Is this an issue of break in or are my feet not made for the One 90 (after I dropped all that money)?

anyone with similar issues?

That happened to me. I was fitted with a 10.5 by the guys at my LHS. I used them a couple of times and they killed my arches. I went back because of the boot outersole problem. They didn't have any 10.5 left so I tried on a 10. They fit great and the pain was gone.

i have skated in my one90's probably 6 times now and as far as pain, it is pretty much gone. the pain on the outside lower part of my feet, nowhere else. leads me to believe it was just a breaking in issue

I picked them up at my local shop, in terms of sizing these are the right size... I was skating on 8.5 Bauer Vapor XX for the past 3 years under the impression that was size and then I come to realize I was skating in skates a size of large.

They were baked, right now I'm experimenting with the way I lace em' up (leaving 1st two eyes, nearest two loose) and different socks (currenty using a Bauer skate sock)

I'm just hoping the boot stretches a little bit and breaks in soon, I'm just a little worried because of the price tag on these things

I know some people have skated off in them and loved them from day one. However, my daughter had pain on the outside edges of her feet and balls near baby toe for ... umm... somewhere between 15-20 hours of skate time. Her feet were really red after skating at first. After that the skate broke in and the pain went away completely. They are now the most comfortable skate she has ever used.

Early on used a thicker sock and switched it back to the thin skating sock.

sounds good, I mean I couldn't believe how horrible they felt the first time I used them, they are getting better but slowly... I saw your daughters video about getting her blades changed and all the jazz about the radius and hallow. That's something I wouldn't mind looking into but have no idea where I'd find a service like that.

I go to school in Maine and there isn't much up here, although I could wait till I go back to Massachusetts (boston area). do you know anywhere around boston that would be able to do something like that?

well from what I gather, you're in the city.... there's a Pure Hockey in Braintree- they offer a lot of skate services, radiusing, heel lifts, etc.

if you know Weymouth at all, I would even recommend Charlie Jackson's Referee Crease... they do a fantastic job sharpening, radius', etc
