Recommended Posts

Sorry guys, I did a search but didnt really find anything too neat, so I was wondering how do you guys break in your gloves? Any comments appreciated, thanks.

Wear them as much as possible. I remember when i got my One90s, i went as far as sleeping with them on, even though they didn't need a whole lot of breaking in.

Basically, with the quality of the gear these days, a few skates and they feel like you've worn them forever.

Agreed. I was surprised when I upgraded from CCM 492 gloves to Mission 10000s at how soft and broken in they already felt right out of the box.

Same for my 8k's. A little sweat gets in the palms and your set. Just takes a skate to get used to a different feel.

Yeah, just wear them and sweat in them. DON'T USE WATER on them to soften them up. I know it sounds good, but it creates nightmares.

wear them.

set them in place gripping something like a thick table leg, etc.

If you have problems closing the hand, put the fingers in the closed position and set a weight on the top to keep it closed.

I have personally used my bed post with a book between the glove and the bed post to spread out the load evenly.

Sounds a little crazy, but it worked fine for me in the past.

Toss them in the skate oven...It softens them up and can help you shape the gloves....Say 4-5 minutes, and your good to go...Works really good for you goalies out there...

just wear em, gloves break in by using them. Thats the best way. actually i sort of like justin's oven idea too, might have to try that with my next pair...

I throw every glove we sell in the oven.

I understand the glove will be moldable hot, but what do you do to mold it to your hand? Do you stretch the cuff, or close your hand to a fist?

I just bought a brand new pair of CCM Super Tacks 892 that I wore for the first time today. At first they were stiff as sin, but by the end of the game, they were perfect.

I just got some Reebok 5K gloves and played in them for the first time Saturday. They didn't seem as stiff as I expected to begin with and after one days breakin they are real comfortable.

never heard about the oven idea, thats pretty interesting. anyway, i just bend my gloves a whole lot. bend the fingers back, bend the rolls above of the hand, everything. of course playing in them helps, but i like to have my gloves broken in pretty well before i take them to th game.
