RBK P34 Modano Cruve Question

Recommended Posts

Hell, my rbk 6k blade didnt fit properly in my rbk 6k shaft - the one that came preinstalled.

It got loose, so I added more glue, and it got loose again, so I had to add tape. Maybe I got a bad batch or something.

I have 3 6Ks in 3 R2 Xn10s and they fit perfectly with one layer of tape on each side. It doesn't fit perfectly, but then again I have never found any shaft/blade combo to fit perfectly.

Unless they had an inconsistent batch the Rbks I saw weren't exactly Forsberg clones and were pretty damn good curves. Looked to be more of a little wedge than the Forsbergs; longer and had a constant amount of shovel to them. I just wasn't going to drop $38 for a damn 3k blade.

Actually Mack, I find my forsberg to be a bit more wedgey than my rbk 6k. My forsberg is a hybrid synthesis blade though. (I also have an old Modano Ultra Lite blade that matches up to the hybrid) Still, the 6k is a rounder curve (if that makes any sense), and is more open than the forsberg.

I also found the NBH (vap XX/XXX PM9) to be more wedgey, and the Warrior dolo (fedorov) to be more round.

Damn, now I'm going to have to go buy the one I saw because it looked more, no one will get this, Ciccarelli/Thornton-ish of a heel than the Forsberg.

That's probably inconsistency. The higher end blades (5K, 6K, 7K) have been exactly the same. I have seen 3Ks and 4Ks that have varied though, so that may be why you saw what you did.

"My forsberg is a hybrid synthesis blade though."

Locust, are you sure it was a Forsberg Hybrid Synth? I have a Hybrid Synth and it's a Modano(I know semantics). I thought they renamed the pattern later, when the Synth blades became Synergy II's? I'm probably wrong though...

Anyway I have a Hybrid Synth Modano and a Hybrid Lami(Standard) Forsberg and they are pretty close, not exact(mostly differ in overall blade shape/size), but the curve and lie are the same, which is what I'm most concerned with.

Yes, they did rename the pattern, actually before they switched from Synthesis to Synergy II. ('05 model year I believe, and Syn II came out for '06) It's definitely a Forsberg.

The inconsistencies that I have seen have been from the hybrid style blade vs. a full composite style blade- say a CNT Z-Carbon, or one you'd find on a OPS from easton. Wood blades are not consistent at all.

The differences you see in your synth hybrid and hybrid lami would likely not be found when comparing a CNT Z carbon blade and a synergy II blade of the same pattern, since the full composite blades use a more exacting mold.

Yea, I can see why there would be minor differences between fully composite and Hybrid style blades. But the diff. on the 2 blades I have really aren't a big deal. The lie is correct, which is my pet peeve.
