HEEL LIFTS

Recommended Posts

I have read a couple of threads on this subject and was wondering how you would know if you need heel lifts?? What size?? etc... Is it just trial and error?? Try one size. Then the next size and so on. It seems like alot of work if you keep having to remove the rivets and holders to insert the lifts each time. Thanks

You dont really need to remove rivets, you can raise your heel using "rubatex" (sp) Foam.

And generally you need to lift your heals if there is too much pressure on your arches.

i guess some people call those heel wedges or risers, but the things you are talking about do go between the holder and the boot... as for telling you if you need them, it's just preference... if you feel like you have trouble getting on your toes or if you're too far back on your heels, they might help...

another option would be to have the steel profiled. Depending on your holder, however, heel lifts may be a better option since you won't lose any steel. the LS2Power is one such holder.

Heel lifts and profiling the steel generally have two different goals in mind.

Could you elaborate a bit, I don't know nearly as much about these things as I make it seem.

I understand that profiling can offer many different advantages whereas a heel lift basically will only change pitch of the skate/holder combo.

Thinking of the profile as a fine tune vs. the heel lift which is a less precise fix.

Thanks for any info.

Do the LS2 Powers get you more on your heel than the regular LS2s? From what I'm reading it seems that way, I always thought they were the same, just a few mms longer and of course stiffer.

the Powers are pretty much the same as the LS2s as far as pitch, but because the ONE90 is so good at locking your heel, they actually feel like you're more on your heels. this is why a lot of ONE90 users use heel lifts.

Id hate to Jack the thread, but I just noticed today that when I put more weight on my toes in my skates the heels of the skates, not just my heels inside the skate lift up but the hole skatelift up at the heal. I know its not my heal because I can still feel it touching the sole of the skate.

So I was just wondering is that a natural thing and its just from the natural curve of the blade on the toe? Or is it something I should look at getting fixed, or can it be fixed?

Is the flatter feeling actually within the LS2Power holders? I want some Graf G5 Ultras and I need the forward pitch but I would also like to keep my LSPower holders from my one90's. Would I get more pitch out of the cobra 5000?

yes. the Powers are neutral, whereas the cobras are pitched forward.

the one90 boot will make any holder feel like it has more negative pitch that it actually has b/c of the heel lock.

If you're really sold on the Powers on Grafs, and want the forward pitch, it's a prime candidate for heel lifts over profiling, since there isn't much steel on the Power Runners. Just make sure that is what you want.
