1/2 Moderate vs 1/2 Deep?

Recommended Posts

Awesome site guys. Have lurked here for quite some time, and have only recently joined. Incredible tech info all around, and I appreciate all of the insight.

I wanted to pose this question to the forum to get some feedback:

What would the difference/response be to a 1/2" moderate curve blade vs 1/2" Deep?

I'm currently using a Warrior Jovo (1/2" deep), and was considering switching to the CCM LeCavalier (1/2" moderate).

What differences (if any) could I expect? Would the LeCavalier blade do anything (theoretically) better than the Jovo blade? I love the Jovo pattern, but just want to try something a little bit different, while keeping the same shape and length.

I play a very 'stay at home' defensive style of play, mostly clearing the puck and/or making the first pass out of the zone.

Any thoughts, suggestions? Am I just over thinking?

Anyway - thanks in advance - and again, awesome information on this board.

Well you can't expect something different if you want the same shape and size. As for those, every company has different ways of classifying their blades. I can't really tell you the difference because I have not seen the jovo blade but your best bet is to find one and compare. If they are the same size and shape they really wont have any advantages over each other. Possibly one could have an open face whilst the other might not be or not as severe.

It's very slightly different than that of a Jovo or lidstrom, the main difference in the blade being the toe of the lecavalier.

I haven't used the Jovo, but I've used the Lidstrom and the Lecavalier. Their profile is different, and as above the Lecavalier isn't as open. Having said all that, the lie is about the same so you should be able to try it and not lose too much. FWIW, I found my stick handling was much better with the Lecavalier than with the Lidstrom, but my slapshot wasn't as good.

Thanks tons for all the replies, guys. I really appreciate all of your insight and different experiences.

I guess this is what I was trying to ask - if I'd notice better stick handling.

I think I'm going to order the V8 LeCavalier tonight.

Thanks!
