skate is rubbing ankle

Recommended Posts

On my new skates(hi ho's) my right skate is rubbing on the back of my ankle right where the padding meets the liner. I know it is just going to take time to break the skates in but, is there a quick fix that you guys know of since i have a game tomorrow night.

Thanks

maybe try different socks? reduce the friction so it doesn't bother you as much. what exact problem do you have? is it rubbing away skin or is it just an issue of it being annoying

can your skates be baked? if not then get silk socks, they seem to make the rubbing go away, or get those socks that use that under armor material. that way it'll keep the moisture away from ur foot and stop blisters.

Maybe try wearing wet socks to break them in faster?

You might also want to try vaseline on your cuts/blisters before you skate. I used to put vaseline on mine when i had nasty cuts from swim fins, and it really worked.

The thing about duct tape and mole skin that still sucks, though, is that you still have to peel them off when you're done, and that hurts. I've taken an older pair of higher cut socks and cut out a ring that I put around that par tof my ankle. Or, I jst thought of this, tape duct tape over your sock around that area before you play...

Try using duct tape except make a small square a little bigger than the blister/wound and tape it (sticky side to sticky side) in the center of the larger piece. This way, when you remove the tape, it will only stick to the area around the blister/wound (not the blister itself) while still covering it.

I remove all of the loose skin to allow the blister to be exposed. Then I put a bandaid over my blister w/ a little neosporin on the padded part of the bandaid, then a mole patch over the bandaid.

After playing I take off both with no problem, slap on some neosporin, and let it breathe. I also don't wear socks or shoes in the house to allow extra breathing time...works great. It only takes a few days for the entire thing to heal.

Dr Scholl's moleskin

Good luck!

something as simple as bigger insoles can solve this problem, also on my team one guy uses a bandage that is wrapped around each ankle, this eliminates the friction, its annoying taping up before every game, but worth it after.
