bauer 8000 pro stock skates

Recommended Posts

i picked up a brand new pair of bauer 8000 pro stock skates. they are a bit heavy but i love the boot. they came with 296 tuuk custom plus holders and im wondering if putting light speeds on them will make a difference. i am also wondering if it is possible to get new tounges for them and if so where i could get some white tounges?

Alright,

i dont wanna hijack berger33´s topic but ive got a question and the title fits it very well so i dare to post it here.

Im looking for another pair of skates to skate when im going to pickups or just to have a pair in the back - you never know when you need a 2nd pair.

Anyways, i could get a pair of (Pro Stock) Bauer Supreme 8000 for a fine price. I fit a 8090 sized 8.5EE (remember the wiiiiide cut of the 8090s) perfectly and i could get my hands on a 9EE pair of 8000's. Is this difference from the 8.5EE 8090 to the 9EE 8000 a big one (lengthwise)? So as we all know the xx90 Supreme series are a bit wider than the normal Supreme series, but is it a big difference? For example, a Vapor XX (and XXX) in EE are too narrow for my duckfeet.

I would love to put that skate on, but my friend is in southern germany at the moment and he would send them to me from this place.

So, i used the SF a bit and i found an interesting thread (http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15578&hl=)

Can someone confirm the statement by DarkStar:

IMO, the 8090 fits like a Supreme always has. You have to be careful with that width issue and take the time to be sure the fit and width match up.

I think hes right, but i just want to get sure.

Aren't 296's longer holders than you were using before? When I had them on for practice that one time, they felt long, but not two holder sizes up.

Your timing is very good! I was in another shop the other day checking their out-of-control inventory. They had an 8090 in my size, 6-D width on the close-out rack. I put it on since it has been over 2 years or more since I tried on the 8090 in my shop. The boot was fine at the back and heel but right up front over the ball of my foot, the boot was not wide enough. It was pinching my foot. I wouldn't get a 6-EE because the heel would get sloppy quickly and there goes the fit. Also, the 8090 D is wider than a true D as well. I mention the way the skate fits since Sven is considering the 8000. I also remember trying on 8000 in my shop in the 6-D. It was the same fitting issue up front at the ball of my foot. The 8000 may not have been as deep at the heel, though, as the 8090. I remember some guys had ankle issues with the 8000 feeling their ankle bone to close to the lacing eyelets on the boots. However, the Supreme was fitting me the same from 8000 to 8090. Thats just my experience. I don't know if it helps!

Well, as far as i know, you know a lot about equipment, so im pretty sure that you are right.

I think i can fit my heel into a 8000 in EE as well.. when it comes to the forefoot, i dont think ANY retailskate can be too wide for me ;)

I just hope that the length wont be that different, going from a 8090 8.5EE to a 8000 9EE. The 8090 has a holder size 280 and the 8000 of 288 - i dont think it will matter tho.

well thanks for all of that guys but i was at another local hockey shop and they let me trade in the pro stocks for a brand new pair of 8000ee straight up so im all set, the only problem is that since they were not selling many of the 8000 (which i think is horseshit cause there the best boot ever) they took the lightspeeds off and put on grey tuuks which looks really dumb so now all i have to do is get some new lightspeeds and ill be all set.

I think they(8000) originally came with the Silver/Grey TUUK Custom + as a couple teammates had them that way and there was a pair at the LHS like that.

Maybe south windsor had some extra old grey tuuk's.
