Pro Stock Sticks in GTA

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of any LHS's in the greater toronto area where you can find pro stock sticks and other equipment? I live in Mississauga where all we have are National Sports and Sportcheck which suck. I hear you guys talk about getting pro sticks for like 75-150 bucks. Please and Thank you for the help.

Whereabouts in Mississauga are you?

Check out Just Hockey in Toronto. Don Mills & Eglinton, Steeles & Yonge. They have some, last time I was there they had a bunch of Dolomites. Had that hideous Schaffer curve!

Toronto Hockey Repair / Goalie Heaven. Bloor & Weston. Gotta go in to check it. Haven't been there in while.

West Star Athletics. Unity & Winston Churchill, by Erin Mills Twin Rinks.

CLP Sports. Lakeshore & Winston Churchill.

Talk to the guys @ Streetsville Sports. They may get stuff from the Derbys.

Sports Unlimited. Brampton, Clark & Rutherford just below Queen. I think they may get some stuff from the Battalion.

And keep doing the walk through National Sports & Sport Chek (which are owned by the same company now, Forzani Group). They get the boatload of pro returns, and if they're at a decent price pick them up.

Like I did two years ago with 2 pro stock LH Styles Synergys. Walked into National Sports on Dundas, walked over to the rack of prostocks, saw the last two there, and snagged them as fast as possible. I'm still using one of them now and it's finally going on me, what a tank that thing is.

Or when Sport Chek had the Si-Cores on sale for $129 each. I was @ Erin Mills Towne Centre and put one on the counter and the chick said they were buy one get half off. I said really? knowing full well that the Si-Cores were exempt from this deal. So she asked her manager who was standing behind her who said yes. So I walked out with 2 LH 110 Drury's for $210 CDN.

National had all those Dolomites on sale just before Xmas. I knew I should've grabbed one. They have (had?) some Fedorov's @ Just Hockey that were Drury clones.

And I got 3 pro stocks sitting in my basement that i'm not even using. PM me if you're interested.

HTH,

Phil

I posted this in another thread but it got locked (oops).

There is a pro stock Bauer Vapor XXX (Aki Berg) LH at Sportschek Mississauga, Dundas/Winston Churchill.

Man we should have a special thread for GTA deals. ;) Know where I can get Wicked 1 blades?

Beat me to it. IMO, Just Hockey is the best place to pick up prostocks in the GTA.

I know most of the guys at West Star Athletics, as I live a 2 minute walk away, and that is usually where I go to buy my equipment. A bit overpriced, but they really know what they are doing. (Their skate sharpening is excellent.) They will occasionally have prostocks in, but I dont think they had many last time I was in there.

National and Sportchek have many prostocks, you just need to go to a few more locations. In the past month and a half, I have gotten great deals from them, rounding up an Englehart, Ondrus, and a Legien for less than $150.

LOL! I worked there last summer.

Keep looking, you'll find many prostocks around. There are just too many hockey shops here in the GTA to miss them.

Thanks guys, very very helpfull. I just started playing again in the last few months and I was just looking for some places other than sportchek to get stuff. Besides National Sports seems really pricey for sticks. I actually bought myself an 05 stealth on ebay for less than half of what I would've got it there 299+ tax!!! But yeah I'm going to check out West Star and Just Hockey and maybe CLP sports sometime soon. Once again, thanks guys.

When does National Sports normally have these sales I'm hearing about, I hear from everyone they have massive sales.

IMO, National's sales have sucked recently. A few years back there were some great deals, but the last two sales have been nothing special. I think the pro-stock sticks are all marked to $129 or $119 right now, and there is no sale. If I recall, their big 25% off hockey sales usually do not apply to the pro-stock sticks. The price on these seems to only go down by *maybe* 10 bucks, if at all, during the sales. If they have the pattern you want now, I wouldn't wait. I was at the big Scarborough store the other day and the selection of pro-stock sticks seemed slim. Check as many stores as you can and care to, because selection varies greatly between stores and over time.

They didn't have a big selection. Prices were nice though, Mission M1s for $129 and the Easton Stealths for about that price. No Vapor XXX though.

05 stealths or the 06 cnt ones? I just got an 05 stealth and I love it. So light and it's just a cannon. I saw one at National Sports for 299+ tax, how rediculous is that?

Sorry to bump this old topic, but I'm heading up to Oshawa next weekend. My dad doesn't really want to go into Toronto (downtown), so are there any stores with cheaper pro stock sticks near Oshawa? I see that National sports has quite a few locations either in or around Oshawa, which ones have the better selections? On google maps it says Just Hockey is only about 40 mins from Oshawa, is that right? Also, I'm looking for vapor XXX skates for my brother, anyone notice any XXX skates at these stores? Thanks for any help!

Either of the Just Hockey stores are about 40 mins from Oshawa, *in good traffic*. Downtown Toronto is not much farther than that, but there's no good place to buy hockey stuff downtown anyways. There's a National in Oshawa or thereabouts, but when I was there last they had a crappy selection of pro-stocks and even crappier staff. The Scarborough location used to have a fair selection, but it's slim pickings there too.

If your Dad doesn't want to drive you to Just Hockey, Duke's, or Pro Hockey Life, you might call up the Hockey Experts in Scarborough, or the Source for Sports in Pickering to see what they have.

Did they just have 7k's or do they have other pro stock sticks too?

So, it looks like we're going to go to Just Hockey, and a couple of the national sports' close by. Any particular National Sports close to Oshawa that have a better selection? And any other stores that haven't been mentioned that I should try and get to? Thanks

I'm trying to think, I know they had some odd xn10's, response+'s and whatnot but nothing in great variety.

Sorry to keep bumping this, but we're leaving tomorrow and it turns out we'll be in Toronto for most of friday with nothing to do. I have most of the bigger stores all sorted out, but I was wondering which National sports have the better selection of pro stock sticks usually? We have half the day but the rest of my family doesn't want to spend the entire time in 10 different hockey stores, so I would like to narrow it down to a few different locations. Thanks.

Whitby borders Oshawa, both have National Sports locations. Oshawa's is usually better for pro stock sticks-Whitby had none 2 weeks ago. The Oshawa store is North, in a crappy mall on Tauton Rd.

Best bet for a pro stock would probably be the Pickering National sports store. Its huge2-3 times size of the others... 15 minute drive from Oshawa, and not in an airplane. Try phoning that Pickering store-may get lucky and reach a knowledgeable clerk....no sense dragging family there if no sticks in Friday.

The Pickering National Sports, the last time I was there, was strictly clearance hockey stuff, and was mostly junk. The Whitby and Oshawa stores are regular shops, but are fairly small stores. Go to Scarborough which has their biggest hockey section, but be prepared for a pretty limited selection of pro stock stuff. It's a shame because it seemed they used to carry a lot more pro stock sticks.

Pickering is 'hit or miss' but they cleaned up that store a lot from when it was just tables of running shoes. Left(newer) side of store is all that clearance stuff-but even there they now have good deals on previous years models skates etc. The right side of the store is regular stock, looks like the Scarborough location you mentioned.

Last year the Oshawa store got a good selection of pro stocks all at once, haven't seen that since. Good, helpful guys working there-bet they steer him to location that has stock if it exists.

Sport Chek Oshawa moved locations January in the Stevenson Rd mall-bigger, may be worth popping in if he's staying close to it....didn't get there yet.

Hmm... I was at the Pickering store about 6 months ago, post-renovation, and never saw much regular stock. I know you said the regular stock is on a different side of the store, but is it right next to the clearance stuff, or is it somehow separated (so that one might miss it) ?

As for the Oshawa store, I'm pretty sure I visited that one when I was there for a tournament a few months back. The stick racks were a mess with way too many sticks for the space (but no pro-stocks that I could see) and it was staffed with more kids (who looked like they were about 13) then any other National I've ever seen who were more interested in horsing around than working.

The clearance is to the left side, seperated by a wall with a few wide door openings. Everything on room on right side wasn't clearance-not sure when all this changed.

Pro Stocks at that Oshawa store are iffy-seem to get in a bit of choice then very little new for 6 months.
