New Pants, new protection

Recommended Posts

Last night, took another puck right where the hip bone meets the pelvis up front. Imagine 3" to the left of your cup. The big welt/hematoma/ungodly bruise has convinced me that NOW is the time to step up my pant protection.

Currenlty I wear Koho 4420s. They're useless where I got hit. Just a layer of nylon, not even a sponge. Any pants SPECIFICALLY with protection (Foam or PE inserts) in this area?

Thanks

My Tackla 9000's do, I'm willing to bet that most medium to high end pants will have a decent level of protection there. Head down to your LHS and try some on.

Most pants don't have much padding there. If they do, it's usually just the hip pad wrapping around from the side. Having padding there would restrict movement too much for most people.

I have 9000s and there is nothing really there.

Not sure about the new NBH pants, but the older Bauer Supreme 5000 and 3000 pants circa 1999-2000 have an extra plastic and foam piece hanging down in that area, kind of like a mini thigh board.
